yeah this was from Elton's strange period, coming out of the 70's. His mania had died down, and the 80's began for him with albums like 21 at 33, the fox and than Jump up. the 21 at 33 record was the first without songs from Taupin, during their minor parting for about a year. Elton had two singles off the "Fox" album, Nobody Wins and Chloe both reaching #21 and #34 respectively, Nobody Wins is a re-write of a french song. Elton is a real mess now However. If you ever have the chance, listen to the song Legal Boys, a closet classic as well. Just can't find it on YouTube..lol All you others say Hell Yea!! | |

I thought this thread title meant.. it isn't worth searching for obscure material by Elton John because it doesn't serve him or the listener. 
I read somewhere that he had a #1 hit every year since his debut until recently? Can someone clarify? Does it include when he was Disney's bitch? | |

Englands Rose wasn't a new entry but damned if somehow it pulls its weight. What a mega phenomenon that was. Yeah Billboard lets it stand as a 1970-1999 run, it was someone that he written them a letter asking if it should have ended in 1998, but they said it didnt matter when the single was released, since it carried over into the year and was still a fixture in the Top 40. And even more amazing is that Elton rarely had a single miss the top 40, in fact the number during this times of songs released of his that didnt make the top 40 were 4!!! That in itself is amazing, to stay relevant to radio and buyers for that long every year. And one of those 4 that missed was "Tiny Dancer" peaking at No. 41, which is considered one of his trademark songs ironically. There has got to be some amazing 70s ones that didn't hit the top 40 but are still essential enough to be on that compilation... this is the compilation i kept thinking of but didn't examine its tracklist, of which there are many variations in the world markets:  | |
