Lenny Kravitz Review - Its Time For A Love Revolution

WOW! This Cd kicks it off with a wallop of a song...
Love Revolution - great hook and than translates into the song I've been waiting to hear since all the rave reviews and it delivers.

Bring It On - now let me start by saying their is only one artist that can own this title - Seal. However, Lenny gets into the groove on this and wont let you go. Next up is

Good Morning - that is so Beatles inspired it drips! He has always impressed me with his layered vocals and this track excels and sets a cool Prince type undervibe which is odd but cool and Lenny is rockin it! I like it! Kinda reminds me of Mr Cab Driver.

Love Love Love - his funk workout with some ubra cool lyrics and man this guys got tude on this CD. Fierce! He kicks a little Red Hot Chili Pepper verse which is spot on and fun! Surprised at this point I'm enjoying this as much as I am and I'm only 4 songs in! Next...

If You Want It - The first slower song. He is really streching his voice and the effects are cool. A positive one at that...all about making the life you have worth. Once again people could mistake this as a Prince song - until he wails as only Lenny can!

I'll Be Waiting - THE SONG. The first one I heard and he nails it on this awesome song. Probably one of my favs from him and I have lots of lenny favs! wink

Will You Marry Me - Lenny is getting a little James Brown and Prince like on this track! Too bad he sounds more like Eddie Murphy imitating James Brown!

I Love The Rain - (me too!) A ballad and at first a bit skeptical but it fits Lenny's style with the struming guitar and beat with yearning lyrics. Ok song

A Long & Sad Goodbye - a sad song about a child being abandoned by his Papa. Wonder what the story is behind this song.

Dancin' Till Dawn - A 70's Rolling Stone nod about a boy getting a girl with some a ripped riff Lenny creates a good groove with convincing hooks.

The Moment Is All There Is - Cool downtempo jazzy beat and guitar. Niiiice. I like it - never heard this style from Lenny and he sounds smooth - Sade inspired! wink

A New Door - another ballad. Sounds like R Kelly at the beginning. Singing about opening a new door after a failed relationship. Unfortunately, he is very good at this type of song.

Back In Vietnam - Back to rock! No one can channel the late 60's early 70's sound like Mr. Kravitz. The theme is of course Iraq and the similarities and sounds of a broken era. In same ways he's right but in some ways he's not.

I Want To Go Home - The closer starts like a 70's rock song and then he goes all 60's love song slurring his words and than he kicks in with a very cool chorus "I wanna I waana just go home get along with my life" Good closer for a better than expected release.

Nice job Lenny - 7 outta 10
dammit I knew I should have seen you when you were in town 2 weeks ago!!!
