I saw Leona Lewis on TRL today. I'm not familiar with her being on X-Factor (Simon Cowell's version of "American Idol" in the UK), but I can see why she is being compared to Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. She has that look that Mariah Carey had in the 1990's, but to me her voice is closer to Celine Dion than Mariah. I do wonder how well she will do her in the USA, since she is British. The Brits have only had sporadic success in the USA this decade, but that has only been on the rock side. As for pop, Natasha Bedingfield has been successful, bit Lily Allen didn't really catch on, and Amy Winehouse self-destructed before she could get any traction. Even so, I think she has a better chance simply because she is more photogenic than the other Brits and apparently has the talent to back it up.
