Patti Labelle should definetely be mentioned.
I recommend to anyone to get Labelle's first album Moonshadow. The title track, originally a Cat Stevens song, is one of the heaviest rolling Funk tracks ever recorded - ten minutes long. Patti's singing is superb, and her monologue in between funny as hell ("Imagine if you had no hands .. you wouldn't be able to give no more hand-jobs")...  | |
