Patti Labelle should definetely be mentioned.

I recommend to anyone to get Labelle's first album Moonshadow. The title track, originally a Cat Stevens song, is one of the heaviest rolling Funk tracks ever recorded - ten minutes long. Patti's singing is superb, and her monologue in between funny as hell ("Imagine if you had no hands .. you wouldn't be able to give no more hand-jobs")...

She actually says: You won't be able to do the Hand Jive. Remeber the little hand dance back in the 60's and 70's along with the Hambone.

Are you sure? Everyone I played this record to heard her say "handjobs" ... but maybe you're right. Either way, this track kicks ass and I'm glad that someone else actually knows it. smile

She's still gorgeous, but um I'm going to need her to lose the fifty pounds of fabric and weave.
