Wow. The Curtis! album is awesome. Move On Up is genius. I've been listening to it all night. Good shit cool

Pretty much all his albums in the 70s were great. A great talent was lost sad

I'd also recommend you check out some of his Impressions work to understand his amazing evolution to quasi-traditional crooner to a superbad soul star and revolutionary, a la Stevie.

you probably were listening to his influence indirectly all this time and simply didn't realize it. He has had a huge influence on everyone from Jimi Hendrix to George Benson.

Don't just stop at Curtis Mayfield, check out his early Impressions work and also people he worked with like Jerry Butler, Gene Chandler, Major Lance, Five Stairsteps, ect.

My 2 favourite Curtis albums are "Superfly" and "There's no place like America today".
Social critisicm,dark funk combined with
some of the most beautiful pieces ever recorded.
Try to listen to "When seasons change" in headphones and not get goosebumps. smile
