I liked them in 2006 for a bit and I think that was a little late.

Funeral is already one of the biggest masterpieces of the current decade; but Neon Bible isn't THAT good confused

I'll be honest when I say that I don't get it. I've listened to Funeral and I don't understand why everyone thinks these guys are the second coming. The singer sounds like Neil Young (and that's not a good thing IMO) and while the songs have some interesting arrangements once in awhile, they're generally not much to write home about. What am I missing? confused

I once went to a concert of theirs
it was loaded with energy, was tight with no messin` delivery
still I cant c what all the hype is about
funeral fire sounds like a band of disillusioned, embittered christians
neon bible is terribly boring

the best thing I can say about it is that it`s inoffensive
some people carry on like they can move mountains. Maybe I`m getting old and`I`ve heard most of it before, but I do try to get inspired. neutral

That's the key of the album's artistic success!

I know a lot of people that feel this way, but I have the exact opposite opinion. Funeral was good, but just a warm-up for the greatness of Neon Bible. To me, NB is more populist, has a more cohesive sound, and at the same time digs deeper into weirder noises and song structures.

Neon Bible has some great tracks.. intervention comes to mind but Funeral is fantastic. It takes awhile though at least for me to get the songs. The melodies are often very minimal and hidden behind tons of instrumentation.

When you see them live it's like they are convinced this is the truth they are playing.... so I see the religious undertones suggested by a few posters.

Bottom Line Funeral was A++ and Neon is a solid B.

But they do deserve at least a week in your choice of music medium to digest.
