Favorite male vocalists

Stokely -- he's inventive and has crazy range.

BeBe Winans -- tone, power and really cool phrasing.

Nat "King" Cole -- smoothness, enunciation and nuance

Terence Trent D'arby -- TTD/Sananda has so much grit and sweetness, I think his is rock music's perfect voice. Truly.

Stevie Wonder -- clarity, range and emotion

Maxwell -- A killer falsetto and an awesome ability to convey feeling.

D'angelo -- Bruh's voice just smolders. Doesn't move me the same way, but my female friends love him. lol And you hear a lot of church in his stuff. He just needs to study Cole's enunciation and quit mumbling.

Donny Hathaway -- Oh my gosh. Donny wrote the book on soul singing. Countless contenders to his throne have studied that book well (Doyle Bramhall II, Harry Connick Jr., Kenny Lattimore, etc.)

Sting -- it's his accent, mostly. But dude's phrasing is really cool.

Marvin Sapp -- goodness gracious. Born to sing gospel. I'd hate to follow him in concert.

David Hollister -- Power and nuance.

Anthony Hamilton -- What vibrato and feeling. Soul.
Al Green -- This brother. disbelief Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. "Change is Gonna Come." Let's just leave it at that, shall we? disbelief

Believe it or not, I don't care that much for Fred's voice. He has a lot of power and he sings with conviction, but I'm not really into his tone. it's very nasally and mid-rangey.

Dude, I was trying to remember him, when I listed Terence. I kept thinking, "TTD reminds me of a mix of Otis Redding and... and... and... someone I really, really like.... durnit!!!"

Thanks. wink

Yep, I've seen him in concert a good number of times. Very powerful voice.

But, I'd take Bebe in concert over him any day.
