It was the fact that he was climbing trees in MUTHAFUCKIN PENNY LOAFERS! That's hard to do LOL Some of yall remember trying to climb trees and play in yo "church shoes"! Michael was probably doing that in Gary. I wonder if they lived in the area where there were trees he could safely climb. It'll explain his "love" for "climbing trees".

It's funny that the most debated/critiqued MJ album is the one he didn't care what the public and critics thought of it. For the most part anyway, Invincible was just the album he felt like making and didn't really care what people thought of it. Tracks 1-7 were the radio-friendly songs that Sony wanted on the album. The rest was just him being him.

I "You Rock My World."
I never get sick of that song. It should have been Number 1! Didn't it drop outta the charts at 9? Now given the video wasn't all that new, I remember being thrilled to see MJ sporting the fedora, and dancing like that. For some reason, I know some fans panned it for being a "Smooth Criminal" ripoff, I thought it fit with the song. Chris Tucker had me rolling. Please Sony just release "Ghosts." That was MJ's finest hour as far as music videos go. Anyways, "You Rock My World" YES. Invincible as a whole, NO. I have to admit though, even though I thought the track was poorly produced, "Threatened" was cool for what it was. Wish it could have been better. There is my true take on it. Oh yeah and for the person who said, "Break Of Dawn" was so fantastic. I didn't put it in the GREAT pile, because the background vocals, I thought, were awful. MJ coulda moonwalked easily through those, but he didn't. And that backing vocalist tore it up...seriously. Everytime I hear him singing, "I don't want the sun to shine I wanna make love" I cringe. As for the mental images that song leaves, I personally will never consider Michael Jackson a sex object. Sure, he is a man, and might be inclined to be with women. (Personally believe the dude is asexual, which is fine with me.) Either way though, beyond the idiot 13 year old girls on MJNO, not many think of Michael Jackson as being a sexual, mature, lover. Badass dancer, the greatest vocalist, treated shitty by the press because of an eccentric lifestyle at times: YES Child molester or sexual object: NO Wow there went my review of Invincible down the drain. Oh well, as I get older, I'm discovering more and more you can't separate the artist from the art. It is IMPOSSIBLE. MJ Fan 1992-Forever

Oh well, as I get older, I'm discovering more and more you can't separate the artist from the art. It is IMPOSSIBLE. You are 100% correct on this point. That clumsy oaf singing the chorus totally sabotaged the track. If Mike had taken those harmonies himself, it would be ten times better. I'm surprised no-one else has ever mentioned this. You're also right that most people can't take Mike seriously doing the heterosexual-lover-man routine. He needs to back away from that. What's good about BOD is that we're actually hearing Michael sing properly again, but melodically it doesn't really go anywhere. Still, it's clearly better than most of that crap-fest ironically called Invincible. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

If 7 tracks r record company choices than that's hardly 'the album' he wanted 2 make. Sorry but MJ is obsessed with charts, stats & awards. The pressure was on with this album, the anticipation immense & it failed on all accounts. so once again..we're back 2 Thriller. *yawn* [Edited 1/31/08 13:04pm] ...Your coochie gonna swell up and fall apart...

Still, it's clearly better than most of that crap-fest ironically called Invincible. I have to agree as well. The whole song is otherwise just perfect but that chorus line where he sings "i wanna make love" seems melodicaly forced to me. As for the lyrics, I like them, and I am probably one of the few people who do, but I just think Mike´s hot (not all the time, but when he is, he´s the hottest thing for me), so yeah, i do like the fact that he sings those lyrics, but those chorus harmonies are not just the pure perfection that we are used to hear from him. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."
