Without a doubt George is the funkiest 1 by far!

Different kinds of funky...it's like oranges and grapefruits. Both are from the citrus family but have a completely different taste. But if I had to choose, it would be George, because I am biased there because he is my mentor. But, JB has influenced me as well. GC, Prince, and JB are my top 3 most influential artists, in that order.

This is a blasphemous question..theres nothing better than The Payback and Tear The Roof etc...they cannot battle...universe would crumble and shit. George Clinton Easily.now I dig James Brown as much as anybody But His Conservative take on Funk is tight&I groove but George Clinton took a Jam back&fourth&sideways&Back with just One Riff for a Half Hour.JB's Bands were Polished.George Clinton wasn't Polished&His Brand of Funk went anywhere you wanted it too.

IMO George Clinton is slightly funkier than James Brown on record...but James Brown from 1955 to 76 was funkier live in concert. Anyone who has seen his appearances from Ed Sullivan to his legendary shows at the appollo etc would agree with me! Another thing...if there was no James Brown, there'd be NO Parliament, Earth, Wind & Fire MJ/Jacksons, Staxx, Prince or anyone who we have dicussed here on the this board over the years that we consider the yodas of funk!

That's right funk is based on James Brownology and George said during the Dancing in the Streets doco about funk music that he crammed every JB theory which he got from Bootsy and as a result developed their own style of funk...P-funk. IMO James was the teacher and George was a straight A student. That is how I see their connection.

P-Funk's great, but James is the king of 'classic funk'.
And after him there's the once and future Prince.

Nobody funkier than JB and his best bands. P's his only rival. He has the same sort of 'precision' in his funk that JB has. You've got to be 'dead on it'. P-Funk's 'looser'. Just different really.
