I'm pretty sure that's exactly what MJ was getting at with this album cover. It's funny that someone said MJ went through fazes of satanism and scientology because I've heard that too.

he made this cover during his "satanist" and "scientology" experimentation period. its around this time that he studied the scientology stuff, since he knew lisa marie. there is also reference to the satanist material by way of the Pyramid with the one eye, used by the Freemasons. He obviously grew out of this phase. but during his early 90s, Mj obviously had a fascination with satanist and scientology stuff. I don't know about that other stuff, but back in 1990/91, Michael didn't have any communication with Lisa Marie "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

The only thing that ever bothered me about this album cover is the fact that you're sort of bound to think that we're missing a few inches from the bottom half of his face were he really to stare at us through that hole in the middle.
But yeah, this was the time when pop stars still used to have album covers.

They met it the 70s and had been sort of on again off again from then up until they got married. Even after they were divorced they were on again and off again. And Michael went in again and out again.

They got romantically involved with each other in 1992. But up until then they still talked to each other occasionally and had each other's phone numbers and stuff.

The picture on the cover represents his mind and fact that we only see his eyes, is his way of looking at us while we are looking at him...I can't help but think that he is saying,"These Mother Funkers", think they know me, well let me let the music speak for itself". This is my second favorite album by him.

whats your favorite album ? My favorite album of his is, "Off The Wall". It still sounds as good as when I first heard it almost 30 years ago. To me it was the album that he had the most fun in making and it showed. All of tracks were bangin and still have staying power. When i saw this album cover.. it made me think that michael was too embarrassed to show his face... because thats when he started wearing those masks to cover his nose and mouth.. so this album cover is just like a mask to hide his plastic surgery face... then i know that michael likes to draw and doodle.. so he probably wanted an album cover that just reflected images that came to his mind at the time.... or things that meant someting to him.. he has the lil black boy with an afro representing him as a child.. and in the "leave me alone video" he had a roller coast ride and elephant mans bones in the video..so maybe thats where he go the idea to draw the skull.. and that lil nakey girl w/the bones probably represent the poor and unfortunate kids that he cares about... Over all when you look at his house (the neverland ranch before invasion) or the furniture, decorations and art on the wall... this album cover reflects his style and tastes.

I think this album pretty much says things might look all flashy and glamourous on the outside, but things are not really what they seem.

My top three are 1. Off The Wall 2. Dangerous 3. Invincible These are the albums that sounded like he was having fun. Like he was not even thinking about making another "Thriller". When MJ thinks too much, that's when he gets in over his head. All of his other antics, I believe are just his way of getting attention. its definitely true that MJ had a satanist and occult fascination during this period.
the cover has the all seeing eye, and lots of other dark images, and even the freemason links to egyptian pyramids etc MJ was in his occult experimentation period. And even the bald white guy on the front cover is supposed to be the well known satanist "Alistair Crowley". You can't deny the facts. MJ was and is truly fucked up. He has some weird fascinations with the occult. And it didn't help when Lisa marie, who is a well known Scientologist nutcase introduced him to this material. I think he is out of the phase now though.

It's a fantasy. And Michael always liked things that are fantasy type. Just like his Neverland Ranch. So to us it means nothing. But to him it's magical. Peace and be wild!
