Where did she place on the charts? That's not bad at all for first week sales. It could have been a lot smaller. Congrats to Ms Badu!!!!! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

But still more than I expected. We're a small and select group of people. If there were more of us maybe the world would be a different place. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

People are'nt really into real music these days, they want that plastic stuff. youre right. least it sold six figures. i was kinda hoping for like 200k at least since it's her first proper album in 8 years though. i cant understand why mary, alicia, keyshia do such big numbers opening week compared to e. badu and jilly who are so superior in ever way. 1999 your fave P album? "lady cab driver" is my joint, but i dont love any other song on their, except the singles. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Go Erykah!!!! well she would have been bigger if at the virgin megastore they wouldn't have that bullshit album cover from janet on the outside, but once u walk inside u c that big display on the wall 4 her album. it was really sweet tho walking in times square and seeing the video 4 honey on that big screen tho man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

i love the new cd, though i must say it is a tad too self-indulgent in spots. i do believe artists should make work they feel connected to and not play to the market but i also think you have to balance things a little. most of this cd is great but there are a few spots where i'm like..."really? is erykah trying to hard here?" An individualist is a man who lives for his own sake and by his own mind; he neither sacrifices himself to others nor sacrifices others to himself...

"Trying too hard to what" exactly? trying too hard to be avante garde or something, lol. for instance, "my people" has an amazing sound but why just the chant? why no lyrics, just some high pitch talking and squeeking. i like the song but i like it as background not as something to get into. the end of "me" is the same sort of thing. it's cool for a few seconds but a full minute of this? just seems like she wants people to say, "oh that erykah, she's gone crazy" and it doesn't come off as sincere. An individualist is a man who lives for his own sake and by his own mind; he neither sacrifices himself to others nor sacrifices others to himself...

OK, I know I can't be the only one who noticed this but the time listed for the tracks does not coincide with the time of most of the actual songs on the CD. Has anyone pieced together any significance of the extra portions of each song? I kind of went through and tried to see if there might be a message there but I don't think so. Also, does anyone know what the 42 laws might be that Analog girl says she lost at the end of the first track? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Like many (including me) have stated on this org, Erykah is preaching some deep and real shit here. This is not some McDonald's, computer-generated, pop-junk. I was looking at the CD booklet and I revealed some lines of certain songs, which put me in awe. It is just thought-provoking stuff. This album excels both lyrically, musically, and also sonically.
