The Allman Brothers Band

Anyone out there fans of one of the best American bands ever? Their music does something for me that few bands can do. They're still great and Gregg Allman still has that killer voice. Idlewild South is one of the best albums ever. Anyone else out there fans? Or fans of Gov't Mule?

The Allman Brothers Band

Idlewild South

Eat a Peach

Brothers and Sisters

I have those albums, each one of them great (the album cover on the last is one of my faves). Here's a good live clip of Midnight Rider.

Their 1990's stuff with Epic records was pretty good too. Shades Of Two Worlds was a really strong album. Seven Turns and Where It All Begins had their moments too. 2003's Hittin The Note was their best since Brothers And Sisters IMO. Thanks for the clip!

I know next to nothing about their post-70s stuff, so I'll have to give this a listen, too. Thanks. smile

Indeed. I also recommend looking up groups led by the current members: Warren Haynes (Gov't Mule), Derek Trucks (Derek Trucks Band), Oteil Burridge (Oteil & The Pacemakers) and Greg Allman (Greg Allman band). cool

Eat A Peach is one of my all-time favorite albums to listen to when I am in a nostalgic mood....brings back memories of FSU, Tallahassee, and everything associated with it.

I have yet to check out Derek Trucks Band, ive heard good things about them. Gov't Mule are great and they i love the way they make their shows available to fans. They've got some strong albums.

Yeah the Epic stuff really holds its own against the older material. No One To Run With is my fave song from that era.

This is the only thing I own by The Allman Brothers...Duane Allman is really missed.

I love Duane's work on Derrick and the Dominoes' Layla Sessions...
