I don't own any Rod Stewart music (except his early stuff with the Jeff Beck Group), but I do like some of his stuff. Young Turks is one that I like. No fucking idea what it's about, but I like it.

I can't call myself a huge fan,but I do like a few of his songs....

"Tonight's The Night" (1976)
"Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" (1979)
"Young Turks" (1981)
"Baby Jane" (1983)
(my favorite song by him)
"Some Guys Have All The Luck" (1984)

Does anyone remember his 1983 single "Baby Jane"? I remember seeing the video on MTV all the time, but not too many people remember that song.

He has done some truly awful music (especially in the 80's, but then in the 80's most artists did!) BUT

Wow, there are some absolute classics in his catalogue too.

Stay With Me (w/ The Faces)
Maggie May
I Was Only Joking
You Wear It Well
Handbags And Gladrags
Ooh La La

and didn't he sing on Jeff Beck- Truth...? Supposed to be a classic but I have never heard it. Anyone recommend it?

Hmmm, so....you can't make up your mind, can you? Sitting on the fence,eh...?

J/K I think it is time I checked this album out - especially as I am a big Led Zep fan and I have heard they pretty much nicked all the best bits for their first album. Cheers RH2S!

Rod made some great music back in the day. His voice in the 70's was amazing. He sang with soul and feeling. I'll give him props anyday just for the great music he made in the 70's!!

American Songbook...?

he did 4 of the damn things then he did a "Rock Classics" album of covers...most notable for not having anything you would call a Rock Classic on it...

The whole Swing/ Big Band/ Jazz Standards thing has been milked and milked and milked here in the UK.

Robbie Williams started it - a fresh idea, nice touch - then EVERY boy band and his mom wanted in.

ENOUGH. ALREADY. IN FACT IT WAS ENOUGH ALREADY 6 YEARS AGO.

Rod has a great voice, he just needs to be more selective of the material.

Yeah,I'm sick of covers albums.It's a lazy,cheap way to resurrect a career.
