I agree with the ones who say her voice is just plain boring. it does absolutley nothing for me

About the part Rihanna is singing and that samples Mike's Wanna be starting something(1982), it was actually stolen by Mike from the original senegalese jazz artist Manu Dibango's hit "Soul Makossa"(1973), he sued Mike but got paid an undisclosed amount of money to withdraw the complaint, you can hear the similarity, it's beyond obvious, here's a link with mike's part and many:
