Admit it, the videos from Janet were much better than Velvet Rope

Watching my dvd of Janet vids 'from Janet to Damita Jo' and although some of the songs were great from Velvet Rope, the videos were pretty bad. The Janet cd had such great videos That's The Way Love Goes, If, Again, Because of Love, Anytime Anyplace and You Want This. Was Rene her muse, director, lover, inspiration or what? It worked.

Skip to Velvet Rope. I love the cd but the videos fell apart IMO. Strating with Got til its Gone, Together Again, I get Lonely, Go Deep?, live or performance vids You etc. Everytime is good but kinda scary looking.

Then All For You kicked in and they were back on track.

I loved the velvet rope era, though people around me weren't feeling her. But I can now admit that if it wasn't for me being sooooo fascinated by the videos and albums from control through janet, I may have thought she lost something. Though I liked got till it's gone, I thought her vocals were so weak, and though I liked together again, it was a safe track cause where I'm at, dance music and europop was on the airwaves and slowly fading away by then. I think once I got the album then I was really, really feeling the era, though I found myself comparing her to the janet of janet era, cause she was flawless. I was expecting a huge, futuristic dance video for the track velvet rope or something too, but didn't get another if-like production.

Got Til It's Gone is perhaps her best video. I Get Lonely is among the best video work she has ever done.

eek
"I Get Lonely" is an OK video, but it wasn't that great. "Got 'Till it's Gone" is probably her best video from that era. I love the look of that video.

As for the other videos from the VR era, I didn't care for the rest of them. I really didn't like the safari video for Together Again. "Everytime" was a good video. I liked the colors used (and the nakedness).

However, the janet era videos were a hell of a lot better. I loved the videos for If, Again and Anytime, Anyplace.

I agree.

I also loved "Everytime" (sooo beautiful) and Together Again (Deeper Mix) video.

I Get Lonely is very cinematic. I will always remember Janet in the back of the cab looking depressed.

I agree that TVR videos were pretty weak. Perhaps it was the look. I do like Got 'Til It's Gone, but the rest of them look like every other video from 1997/1998, meaning they're nice to look at, but they're pretty generic for the era and not all that inspired.

Now that you mention, it I never really think of her videos from TVR. My personal favorite from that album is for I Get Lonely and I never quite got Go Deep. confuse It always felt like she stopped in at a party hosted by a friend’s cousin and someone just happened to have a camera and they decided: let’s shoot a video!

I Get Lonely is such a cool vid. One on my favs.
The dance, colours everything so perfect. cool
Looks like it cost alot too. They should really
spend more money on vids, they are stating to look cheap.

Yup. Critically, GTIG was one of her best-received videos. To me the message here, the quality of the filming and composition, beats anything from the All For You project.

I think more people would take exception with the idea that IGL is one of her best videos. It's very late-90's r&b video, and not even a particularly exciting version of the same old thing that every other artist's video that year looked like.

I loooove her hair in I Get Lonely and the whole flow of it, very artistic. I came to appreciate GTIG with time and like it as well now. I loved Go Deep back then, cause I was an excited fan myself that wanted to hang out with janet and was having dreams too, but now I don't think it's all that. But for some reason, most people weren't excited over her like before, probably cause of the backstreet boys and spice girls being on everyone's mind then. I did have a few friends that liked together again and i get lonely and had the singles with the mixes and all though.

say no to drugs.

probably her three WORST. she looked amazing in all 3 clips - but that disneyland/cartoon bullshit of AFU and the country bumpkin of STCML and the haunted house for SOAG? Hell nah. Love the spider though - class.

she had some cute videos for ALL FOR YOU era.. w/exception of son of a gun... i hated that video... but all for you and someone to call my lover was extremely cute...

but I LOVE THE "GO DEEP" video... cause its fun, janet looks extremely cute and it had one of my DISNEY CHANNEL crushes in the video.... lolol (when i was in late elementry i had so a few crushes on the disney channel ) lol

but anyways... i enjoyed IGSL but i did not like the video... it was a shock to me when she ripped open her shirt... that was i think the second janet video that i saw.. because i saw the scream video and then the IGSL... and together again was so cute... YOU was cool... and Got til its gone video is very strange... did not like it...

janet is a great video artist.. i honestly think better then madonna...

all of janet's music videos have awesome palettes/colour schemes. It's always the colours that stick out.
