Kate Bush was Possessed

okay, play on words of course...

As you may or may not know Kate Bush collaborated with Prince on her seventh album, 1993's The Red Shoes

The Song is Titled: Why should I Love You?

Legend has it Kate recorded a demo of this song and then sent the masters to Prince, so he could add background vocals. Reportedly Prince took the song apart and put it back together to his liking, adding extra percussion and instruments. According to information Alex Hahn (author of Possessed)presented, Kate's camp wasn't too happy with the outcome, remixed the song, then released the album with a song that wasn't quite what Kate or Prince envisioned.

Searching Youtube I found the original Kate Demo. I wish I had the released version to present too. For those who are familiar with the album version: What do you think? Did Prince help or Hurt this song? hmmm

i like where she was going with this song, though the tempo changes on this version are so dramatic. i think prince did what he could with the track and it's truly a good song. sure it's not totally Prince nor Kate, umm, i think that's why it's called a collaboration. lol

yeah i actually prefer the released version...i just think it's funny that (according to Possessed) Kate's Camp weren't pleased with the outcome

I always dreamed that they'd do a duet live one day doing this song & Wuthering Heights. The released version of WSILY is better imo.

Didn't they work on, at least,4 songs?
I remember reading about it a couple of years or so before The Red Shoes was released.
I take My Computer came from the same sessions but never again heard about the other tracks confused

I heard this a while ago. It's nice enough but my vote still goes to the album version.
Never understood the hatred for that track.

Prince once mentioned them in an interview, but sadly not by title.
He said that there were a couple more duets that they had recorded but would probably never be released. mad

I don't thing Prince did the song justice with the way he changed it, now that I've heard this version. The one he did is okay, and danceable, but forgettable.
