Record Label: Amy Winehouse Is in Rehab
Jan. 24, 2008, 1:57 PM EST
The Associated Press

LONDON -- Amy Winehouse has entered a drug rehabilitation facility, her record company said Thursday.

A picture of the 24-year-old singer inhaling fumes from a pipe was published this week by British tabloid The Sun.

"Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family and doctors," Universal Music Group said in a statement.

"She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction," the statement said.

Well of course best of luck, but Rehab is not always a help to people especially when they come out and surround themselves with the same people and same enviroment that was there before.

Big deal. All these stupid fuckers going to rehab...simply a PR exercise. She's a junkie who's not even much of a singer. It might help if she engaged with the lyrical content.

Can they force her to stay? That will be the only way she can succeed here. I hope she cleans up her act and continues making music. She has a voice worth hearing. Good luck Amy smile

I wish her the best and I hope she takes it seriously. She's got too much talent to let it go to waste like that.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

lol Maybe you can send her that cute pink set you liked as a get well present.

I'm not familiar with anything addictive (almost.... not counting P. wink ) so I guess it must be the hardest thing in the world to overcome an addiction.
But this one can kill in the end. I hope she has some serious people around her and not the kind of leeches for example Britney has around her.

Engaged with the lyrical content? How so? ...and insofar as chops are concerned I suppose you can carry a big band and do a better rendition of "Teach Me Tonight", right? lol

Seeing her smoke that crack pipe, I'm surprised she's held up & made her shows as long as she has.

Frankley.....i think her "record company" that is sooooo much behind her in her recovery is partly to blame. Hello doesn't anyone here see that??? I mean for them to even release an album with a song that starts with the words "They tried to make me go to rehab, i said no, no, no!" Is fuckin enabling and it stinks! They sat back and watched this young girl get to a point where she can barely function while they made money off of her slow destruction! I hate big record companies! They have a history of tolerance of certain behaviors that is disgusting. I don't know if anyone here knows who Big Pun was. But i worked at the studio he was recording his last album at and the record company knowing full well the man was soo heavy he couldn't even walk STILL allowed him to come to the studio and attempt to make music for their benefit with no regard to the man's health. disgusting.....okay that is my rant for the day! lol

I'm referring to singing the lyrics as if you mean them; she does write really good lyrics, but she's so detached from them when she sings them. She has NO charisma or stage presence. I have no sympathy for someone fucking themselves up. We all have demons; most people would have caught themselves on by now. The fact is, she obviously enjoys getting wasted. I've mentioned how she was like this around the time of her first album and before when I'd see her. Her manager at that time was into damage limitation so you wouldn't hear of the plethora of gigs that she'd miss or not be able to do because she was throwing up backstage.

In my experience having known a few people with these kind of problems - it's not as easy as just quitting - it's a deep emotional illness that needs to be treated.

Healthy people can handle their demons - unhealthy people turn to alcohol and drugs and whatever else to suppress their own emotional pain and discomfort. Yeah, it's fucked up, they are fucked up - but you have to admire any effort to try and arrest the behavior.

I wish Amy the best in her treatment.
