Very nice. His influence of Prince's timing and phrasing is undeniable.
Here's my personal fave, Mr. Marcus Miller (great blend of power, agility and lyrical sensibility). http://www.fabchannel.com...07_concert

You know Thread, you are constantly reminding me that I have ssooo much more music to hear... I hate Boston for that, its like a wasteland when it comes to the music scene. You really have to go outta your way for anything other than rock.

I know what you mean. Thankfully, it pops up in the weirdest of places. I remember watching the movie "Fearless" and being floored by Górecki's Symphoney No. 3. Amazing. Yes, good music is all around. We're spoiled, really.

That's exactly why I now love the theater, and shows like Circe de Soleil, the music just draws you in..... got me hooked on celtic sounds that way
Now back to the funk..... [Edited 1/17/08 21:28pm]

It's really hard to out-funk larry, even if his technical prowess doesn't quite match that of the true masters. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourselves a worthy goal" - Carl Sagan

Incredible.
Bootsy Collins came AFTER larry and was highly influenced by Larry's style. That is why Bootsy had to adopt his image, because Larry was already thumbing the bass. I love Bootsy's playing, but it fucks me off no end when people fail to give Larry his credit when it is clearly due. Larry is a bass genius.

Larry is one baaaddd motha indeed
[Edited 1/18/08 5:17am] It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

No doubt but part of who I prefer is if I LIKE the music. 4 me, Bootsy's music is 100% better suited 2 my taste than Larry's music.

There are many opinions out there on this:
Best I have seen live is Victor Wooten. Funkiest I have heard is Bootsy Larry is very talented but it doesn't groove me like Bootsy. I saw Bootsy on the P funk doc where he talks about the "one. and counts it off and just grooves. It's impossible to not make an ugly face when he plays something. Vernon White is too polished IMO. Rock guys love Bootsy, Punk's know Bootsy, Funk players worship Bootsy.... people who have no clue about music can recognize Bootsy..... So go on and take all of it..... Music is the best...

I have caught several shows there in the past... good idea though to hit some record stores or somethin'. And if I were in Bermuda.... I'd think I be at the beach way too much to even care about music..... just give me the sounds of crashing waves, and a soft whistle of the ocean breeze on my bare skin while takin' a dip

I give Larry his props too but I like Bootsy playing a whole lot more. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.
