Freedom (make it funky) is actually on UTunes, the title of the LP is Black Magic and it is on the label Strictly Rythm.
Just type in Lil Louis, you will only hear the vocal (still good) but not enough.
The version that I like and the one I have is the version of "Freedom" called "color 1"/strong vocal mix.

Enjoy cool

This song is just utter brilliance and anything else that samples it becomes brilliant by default.

I found a jazz cover of the song on iTunes by a guy named Jeff Ray.

K-Os samples the song and throws some pretty ill vocals over it.

This song was the jam back in the day. It still holds up well in the clubs. I remember going to Red Zone in NYC when this came out. I wish there were more house threads on the org.

Nothing better than the original.

It's a shame I can't find this anywhere on CD/mp3.

I had the original dubbed 3 times over on an old cassette lol

But, digging in the crates in Chi-Town one time years later, I found the last copy of the re-issue on vinyl. Now I have copies in every format.

A "lost" classic.

Just a bit of trivia....

The song samples bits from Herb Albert's, "Keep your eye on me", (The, "Herb blow", part)

and Peter Brown's, "Do you wanna get funky, with me."(The "Hot" part of the song).

I have it and have played it.It is when he says, I''m going set your soul on fire...cause it's hot.... This part of the song is sung by his background singers, whom are women. The line in "Hotshot" is sung by a man.

Well well, I have both the Herb Alpert and Peter Brown songs so I might revisit now that you have not backed down.

I still wonder what the jazz piano sample is from.

Question: I heard that this group(soho) changed their name to NY Soho because there was already another group w/the name. Soho was also the name of the group that did "Hippy Chick". Is this true?

lol no doubt. I used to catch it on mix shows and dub it. In my club-head days this was the dance floor anthem.

Yeah, thank you. I'm sorry for the misinformation. I guess my ears are getting waxy again.
