Thomas Dolby -- Aliens Ate My Buick

I heard "Airhead" on the radio, many years ago and was struck by the bass player's chops. Well, if you like solid bass playing, you will love this thing, from beginning to end. Solid, in-the-pocket playing.

Funk is the thread coursing throughout this project. Even the dabbling into jazz sounds like TD beat Prince to his most recent, slightly tiresome jazz-funk phase. But, Dolby does it better, IMO. "The Keys to her Ferrari" reminded me a lot of "Rainbow Children."

Nothing but good things to say about this project. If you see it, scoop it up.

Saw Thomas Dolby perform live back in the early 80's at the Greek Theater in Hollywood California. It was the same year he came out with "She Blinded Me With Science". He is an excellent musician and a dynamic performer. There was a giant pair of spectacles over the stage that doubled as video screens, which ran different graphics in sync with the show. The music and lighting was so tight, I remember thinking it felt like a dream. Based on that show, I always thought he'd blow-up bigger than he did. Regardless, it was a night to remember, under the stars, in "LA-LA Land".

TheadBare has it right. This was a very entertaining project. In fact, if I remember right, George Clinton was involved in the production. I chuckled when I saw this post because I had just re-added "Hot Sauce" to my playlist not one week ago.

I'm not crazy... well i might be but not on this issue... Thomas Dolby looks like Fox sportscaster Joe Buck, he's his double.
