Thriller 25 remixes

Apologies if this has already been posted, I did try a search to see if it had but it came back with nothing.....

I have heard all the new Thriller 25 remixes/remakes and for what it's worth (probably not a lot) here is what I think -

Billie Jean (Kanye West remix)

Hmm, apart from a couple of noises from Mr West, you could be forgiven that this is just a slightly slowed down version of Billie Jean. The danger of remixing such well known classic tracks is that people are always going to prefer the original. Not that creative.

Wanna Be Startin' Something (Akon remix)

Not a lover of Akon but at least he's tried to do something a bit different with the track, changing the lyrics etc. Again, wouldn't say it's particularly successful.

The Girl Is Mine (Will.I.Am remix)

Probably the weakest track on the original release, Paul McCartneys vocals have been completely removed and replaced by Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas. Again, it's ok but hardly groundbreaking.

Beat It (Fergie remix)

Wow, this is bad. It just sounds really, really cheap like someone has got an old Bontempi keyboard, put the Beat It backing track on and got Fergie to do vocals. This is really, really bad.

For All Time

Not a remix but a track recorded during the Thriller sessions that didn't make it onto the final tracklisting. If it wasn't good enough then, it probably isn't now. Doesn't make your ears bleed but you can see why it didn't make it on.

PYT (Will.I.Am remix)

Now this is worth listening to. Like a completely different song with seemingly re-recorded vocals. This is what the other remixes should have aspired to. Creative and not just a retread. Apparently, this lad is working with Jacko on his new album and if it's like this as opposed to the other remixes on Thriller 25 it will be worth a listen.

For All Time actually isn't a Thriller outtake but an outtake from Dangerous and was recorded back in 1990

Ron Disner, who co-engineered Dangerous, was the one who leaked Monkey Business, If You Don't Love Me, Serious Effect, and For All Time back in 2003. The DAT is from 1990.

For All Time could've been done back in 1982 then redone in 1990, like how Blood On The Dancefloor and Superfly Sister was done back in 1990 or 1991 then redone in 1996 for BOTDF

Either it's a "Thriller" demo or Michael re-recorded vocals for the song, lol. I'm going to go with the latter. lol

That's what I'm thinking. It sounds like he's re-recorded parts recently and added string parts, AND took some of the backing vocals out

I like the wanna be startin something and pyt mixes best. The girl is mine is so annoying with that whole "the way i walk the way i walk" crap that will.i.am is barking out. Billie Jean was well done, but I can't listen to it. Beat It is the worst one, though when I first heard the remixes, I liked billie jean and beat it best, but now I can't stand those

Michael should've included the original version of the Thriller sessions neutral
But this version is cool too smile

Yeah! I also love "For all time"... I always thought it's a great song and a shame that it never got properly released! I really hope it will be the second single!

Of the remixes I also like WBSS best... it's the only that is at least a little bit creative and offers something new! TGIM would be nice, if Will would just shut up! "Beat it" and "Billie Jean" is horrible (I do like the beginning of the latter though)! And I prefer the demo version to the P.Y.T. remix!

not that interesting, but here's the version of For All Time on Thriller 25.

tis pretty obvious from the vocals, instrumentation and production roughly when this was done... And significantly different cut to the leaked one from the Dangerous sessions.

I really think for all time should be released too! If people think it's mj's new song, who cares? It deserves to be some kind of hit for sure!
