The video's a mess, but the song is decent. Keri looks hot.

Unfortunately the Flopzinger virus ensured that this one would flop straight out of the gate, as this barely scraped the Top 40 at Pop radio.

Actually i think its more that people are tired of Timbaland at this point. Considering the only single that bombed from PCD was the "timbaland annoying i got be on the track" "Wait a minute" which ended their run of "hit" singles from the PCD.

That makes no sense, as Timbaland's string of hits continued long after Wait a Minute charted (and respectably, I might add, at #28).

If they did a No Nicole Remix, I'm sure this would go Top 10. lol

the sense is that he insisted on this version of the song which "put his annoying vocals, if thats what they are" all over the track, the original album version he is barely heard, at this time Timbaland was all over justins tracks and nellys had just died down, so here he was again, producers need to know when to chill out and go away, or at least get their vocals off the tracks. This is why Mariahs "say something" bombed, people were tired of pharrell and really tired of snoop.

The producers are gonna take credit, than they have to take blame too. If you write the song and put the beats on it and it "flops" its on the producer not the artist, sorry thats how it works, unless the artist actually wrote the thing too. the same with the success thing, if its a hit to me its the producer long before the artist especially if the artist had nothing to do with it except singing. If tim gets credit for Justin and Nelly than he has to also take the blame for the "shit" he did on Duran Duran's record too.

For the record Say Somethin' and Wait a Minute "flopped" because they were the 5th and 6th singles off the albums, respectively, and weren't nearly as catchy as the preceding releases. Callout was poor for Say Somethin' in December '04, so why was anyone shocked when they finally released it in '06 and it went nowhere?

"catchy" had nothing to do with it, because if you would have put "Say something" out right after "we belong together" it would have been just as big as that "Nightmare" Mariah song "shake it off" which, im sorry, was her worst, but she was on a roll that she could have put anything out. As for "wait a minute" like i said that should never have been a single, because people were getting OD'd on Timbaland, "I dont need a man" was ready to be released here but they went with his track instead, poor judgement once again, "wait a minute" never should have been a single in any country.

Callout was poor for Say Somethin' before We Belong Together was even heard, so yeah, it had something to do with what radio listeners thought was catchy and what wasn't - Say Somethin' wasn't it.

But it was still timing, regardless of what is catchy or not, there are plenty of catchy songs that go nowhere while shit songs fly up the charts and depending how much money labels are putting into the songs getting played. Had Say Something been the single after "we belong" it would have been big just on timing and riding the wave, alot of shitty songs get by just because of the "wave" that someone is riding.

U may be right, may be wrong. The new Soulja Boy song (after Soulja Girl) is not cutting it.

However I though Shake It Off was good and catchy.

The thing about Say Something was that Pharells music is played to def right now...even though it is good...if it came out in 2000 2001 it would blow up. Pharells string has ended for a while....

Yeah it depends on how long the artist is around too, someone like Mariah already had the trust of the audience and the "wave" was in her favor plus she already had "the name" built. Someone like soulja boy has only had the hit, and when hits are too catchy or have catch phrases (ex the macarena) than thats not really a wave more than a fad for the day.

I can't believe people buy this crap... lame, repetitive beats, no musicianship, no instruments. People's standards today are so low, it's no wonder the music industry is dead.

Its all the "roids" he did, in about ten years something he really treasures is gonna fall off from steroids. My thoughts are for Nicole, but, that would be way to personal and crossing that line.

LastDecember, I know Nicole is your girl and all but you are making some truly outlandish claims.
People tired of Timb?
Tired of Snoop? Have you somehow missed Sexual Eruption/Sensual Seduction? That may very well be his most infectious song in a while and its in HEAVY rotation in clubs. Now you may have a point about Pharrell but Timb's still going strong. Mariah's "Say Something" bombed because people are still iffy about Mariah's return. Her resurgance isn't strong but rather a slow ascent. Don't let personal biases get in the way of the truth. i know you ain't that fond of Timbaland but a lot of factors go into the success of a record. (rotation, etc.) The label hasn't pushed Mariah's return that hard because they are probably not sure if she'll have another breakdown. They don't want to have a repeat of last time - dump a bunch of money into a project only to not have the artist back it. That's instant failure.
Oh, and let's keep in mind that "Scream" is on Timbaland's CD. Its not Nicole's song, she's a guest on HIS song.

Actually its not a bias and i said on one of my previous threads about Jimmy Iovine i pointed out how he would be better served pushing the more art side of Nicole rather than lumping her with Tim and Ne-yo because, sorry everyone is doing it and sooner or later shit is gonna stink, just like pharrel ran out of gas. The move to push her as another Rihanna, Ciara, etc is just tired. The tracks i enjoyed from her cd (thats not going to come out) where tracks with Sting and a track with Snow Patrol and Colplay members, that is how she started in the business and the direction it should be going, and someone of Mr. Iovines stature should be able to see that difference. Even producer POLOW who did a track for her said when he first heard her it was like hearing someone "special" like Norah Jones and he didnt see the need for "production" on that, so maybe he saw some light too. Tim's work on the Duran Duran record alone showed the weakness, it was stale and empty and a huge mistake that even loyal DD fans hated with a passion. Snoop goes up and down, sometimes he hits and sometimes he doesnt, but he is a veteran so he will always that stature. My problem with Tim is not unlike the issues i have with most producers (if thats what they are) is that they arent bringing anything new to the person that they couldnt with anyone else, the idea is to make the artists all sound different not the same, well at least that should be a goal of someone who considers himself a producer. And i know clearly where the Timbaland track with Nicole is from, since she has appeared on his album, 50 cents, will smiths, shaggy etc.. everytime i turn around someone wants her on their record and i have to find the cheapest way to get the one track. And dont worry i dont "kiss her ass" by any means, i tell her straight out when a record sucks or not or what would be good or dont do this, but she has contracts and obligations and she feels that by doing these things it will allow her to have her own voice, and IMO that will not come from working with everyone that everyone else is using.

If you're a singer and I call you in to sing a song on my record, you would sing it the way I want or you would be replaced. As a GUEST on Timbaland's song, she did what he instructed her to do. I certainly hope Keri blows up because he worked her ass off on his CD; he'd better not fill her record with throwaway tracks.
That being said, I agree with you on how producers SHOULD approach an artist's sound. If Nicole is going to go do songs with Coldplay as the producers, then that's what she should do. Go sing other stuff. She would then have to deal with the decline of her fanbase in the R&B realm and the lack of sales that will come with that as well. I listened to the Nicole CD and I didn't like it. It sounded very filler-laden to me. If she wants to get down with the real singers, she has to do real music - like Chrisette and Angie. I'm not so sure she's ready for that jump yet. She can sing a lil' bit but you have to make your vocals pop out at people, not just run scales n' shit.

Well thats the decision for anyone and everyone that is in "pop", its what else can you bring to the game, and can u deal with "not selling", this is a major issue with most singers that have been around, like janet, madonna, mariah. I give you the "filler" review clearly, but i think you gotta pin that on who is producing it and basically creating the songs, she is nothing more than the person given the song to sing whatever way they want. So if everyone is gonna do a Ne-yo track, than after awhile its just gonna lay there and sound like nothing, and HITS really dont mean that much and arent really a fair testament to anyones work, and i look at HITS like i would look at a Baseball Game, it doesnt matter if you get more hits its what you do with them. The Mets one time got 17 hits and lost the game 4-3 to the Braves who only got 4 hits, their 4 hits were all solo Homeruns, and thats how i kind of look at someones Hits or a run they may be on.

As for Nicole i think she should/will do one more PCD album and than my advice would be to walk away and create your own sound/voice/songs, this year she is turning 30 which is considered VERY OLD in the Pop game.

i call bullshit. Take a track like Erykah Badu's "Bag Lady". There's almost nothing to it yet Erykah makes it "pop". You play the cards handed to you and do your best. If that's her best, she NEEDS better tracks because she can't deliver the goods on her own. See, that's what I mean when I say I'm not so sure she's ready to play in the arena with the big girls yet. She's a good pop chick; I think she should play her position. Another PCD CD is in order. I knew she was messin' up when she started singing hooks on other peoples' shit. A Puffy duet? Come on. i'd like to think she can do better but I'm not holding my breath. J-Lo coudn't sing worth shit so what'd she do? She GOT BETTER TRACKS. She needs to yell at some label heads instead of ego-stroking like a vocal stripper. Tell them mutha suckas their shit ain't crackin'. Its better to be known as a "bitch" and have good tracks than to be known as sociable and have bullshit records.
