hmmm

Not sure if I agree with that.In the years leading up to 'Off The Wall',Michael had numerous hits with his brothers ("Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)" in 78,for example) and he appeared in 'The Wiz'.True,'Off The Wall' took his career to another level but I think it's a stretch to say that he was coasting towards has-been territory, lol.

While with the Jackson 5, MJ was having several hits each year...by the time Off The Wall came out, the only relevance MJ had on the charts and on the radio over the past several year was "Shake Your Body". "Off The Wall", however, established MJ as an adult performer. "Destiny" was more of a nice moment of decent success, but it didn't signal a comeback.

I think it was merely a matter of time before MJ hit it big. I also think it's hard to call it a comeback when he was at such an ealry age (even though he was well into his career).

Thriller81

For whoever brought up Michael Jackson, his only "comeback" album to date was Dangerous, but it shouldn't be on this list.

One album that should be given consideration, but I'm not sure is John Lennon's Double Fantasy album, but I don't know if you would consider that a comeback because of his death.

But I do think Marvin Gaye's Midnight Love album should be on the Top 10 list. Also Eric Clapton Unplugged should be on the list

they had a huge commercial success after a decade of humble to poor perfoming projects.

I thought Warning & Nimrod were huge successes!!! Songs like Minority, and especially Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) were huge hits!!! It's not like they fell-off and noone was buying their records. They may not have been as successful as Dookie was, but they did alright.

Yeah the Green Day number 1 album is pretty hilarious. I'm not a big fan but i know both Warning and Nimrod were in the Top 10 in the UK. I think Warning made the top 5 and Good Riddance was a big hit.

I think The Allman Brothers Band Seven Turns needs to be in that list somewhere.

I think Supernatural deserves its place but Musicology and History i'm not sure of. Both acts were still known about. Santana was a real surprise.

Nimrod was pretty big in the US, but I didn't hear much from Warning. Seems like every other Green Day album is pretty big.

And if that's enough gap for a comeback, I nominate Diamonds & Pearls!

Not that you asked me, but I think Michael's album would have to be more than good, he'd have to be back in the public's good graces. I'm not sure that could ever happen for him again.

Good choice, they were heading towards seventies MOR, until they discovered how to make funky music and falsetto.

Other worthy mentions

1. In the Nick of Time Bonnie Raitt
2. The Healer John Lee Hooker
3. Back to Front Lionel Richie (after 6 quiet years)
4. The Earth Wind and Fire album, with lets groove
5. She works hard for the money Donna Summer
6. Steel Wheels the rolling stones (Surely their best since exile in 1972)
7. Musicology/3121 Prince, take ur pick, some say the first wibbled a bit, whereas 3121 was his first really cohesive release.
8. Little Richard is Back (1964) an excellent attempt at 60s R and B and soul
9. Believe Cher
17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Yes most definitely, especially after all the negative media coverage he's had over the last few years. When History came out he was still pretty much on the radar, His previous album Dangerous did really well.
