So sad disbelief but they say what goes around comes around.I seem to remember Dawn being really bitchy to the other girls in EnVogue. She was glaoting when their 1998 album flopped.Shortly thereafter, her own solo album came out and sold five copies, lol.

And i got one of the five copies sold. lol
Can you blame me. Her ass looks like a basketball on the inside sleeve.
The cd wasn't great but some of the songs aren't bad at all.
Uh she's a swinger huh. Let me see what i can do to get my ass in.

Considering how she treated the other girls,I was glad when her solo CD flopped lol Serves her right. She thought she would become a big solo superstar but she clearly doesn't have what I call "superstar quality".She's only good as part of a group.

I will never forget her appearance on BET promoting her disc and debuting the video. When I heard that song I knew she wasn't going anywhere. But her ego was so damn huge...She also strikes me as someone who spends a lot of time saying, “Nuh-uh, you caint tell me nuthin’.”

Yeah, I wanted to like her because I loved EnVogue and really wanted them to reunite and not just for the sake of making money but more and more it seemed like it easn't going to happen. Then I heard an interview with her and I didn't like the way she talked about the other girls (EV3). She came across as very superior and that they were just stuck in a rut because they weren't as savvy as she was.

Despite my lack of love for her I thought Lucy Pearl was a good fit but even that didn't last. neutral

Her album wasn't stellar but it wasn't really bad either. There are a few really excellent songs. Some pretty nice ones and more than a few that really shoulda been left off. In all, really not too bad. The Lucy Pearl thing was more Raphael and him knowing what to do with her voice. Proving, she really could have a hit album if she was produced right.

I thought En Vogue's Soulflower CD was pretty damn good nod I hope they continue making music cuz they still are talented ladies and it will ALWAYS be nice to hear their voices. Now, what the hell was up with Masterpiece Theater? lol That album really fought for a theme but it's definitely my least favorite of their albums nod

You are not the first person to say that the album was decent. I never heard it but thought the lead single was lukewarm. Throw in the fact that she doesn’t come across as very likable made it hard for me to want to make a purchase for it.

Set it Off - This is an EXCELLENT song!

Still - This is Excellent as well. Both of these are just great for her voice.

Party Party - Kind of a typical R&B offbeat beat with her rap/singing. It's a pretty OK song. But it's clear from this that she is just a way big freak compared to the rest of the EV girls. You can tell she needed her Christina Aguilera "Dirty" moment. lol

Get Up Again - Slow jam. Really one of the more forgettable songs on here. I don't feel the heart tuggin even though that's what this is for. I mean one minute the man is wallowing in Johnny walker and then Johnny gives him this life lesson. WTF? lol

Envious - I think this was the single you referred to. She's very vocally scattered on this track and it's pretty forgetable actually, so I agree with you nod And considering she was probably addressing the EV girls, who probably only ever wanted to help guide her young foolish ass, makes the song even worse lol

Meaning of a Woman - OK, nobody is EVA ripping this off my mantle of worship worship This song kicks ass headbang

I don't know why - This song has rich and lush synths with a sparse beat. It's a slow jam but I love this song. Makes you feel the longing for that certain someone....

Fed Up - Another generic song with R&B skip beat. Useless.

Our Child - Another slow sappy kind of life lesson song. Blech.

How Long - Reminds me of an Alliyah song. Can't recall which one, but very similar to something she did or could have done. It's pretty good. Not bad.

Read in My Eyes - Slow jam, lovefest. I like this song too. Much better than some of the other slow jams.

You Will Never - In the vein of an finger like Meaning of a woman but aint feelin this at all. Meaning of a woman is the greatest girl power song and that was all she really neeeded.

One thing is proven by this album, she needs to stick to uptempo songs. Forget the slow stuff. She has a great voice for energetic songs, as can be seen on the Lucy Pearl CD with Don't Mess With My Man. She's great in that arena. I'd give this a solid 3 out of 5 stars. Solid. It is not a bad album by any means. I'd recommend it nod

As for Masterpiece Theater, nice cover but I didn't care for that album other than the video for the first single. I just wish they could get better material but it's like Denzel and Foster or whatever their names are got them locked in and I think that's one of the many things Dawn had a problem with. She wanted them as a group to use different producers.

Masterpiece Theater, was definitely a WTF moment lol I did Love "No No No", "Beat Of Love", "Work It Out", "Those Dogs" and "Number One Man". Other than those 5 tracks, and I hate to say this about my girls, it's pretty worthless lol

As for Dawn's dispute with those 2, I guess I can see that and understand from that point of view. It's Terry and Denny lol Denzel and Foster are one in the same wink I think Terry and Denny saw the group as a platform for exercising what they probably saw as their ecclectic production skills, showcasing the various ways in which they could produce different sounds for the group.

I tend not to have a problem with that as I think this is a group that can be stretched to great limits in tapping their vocal potentials. I could see that being a problem though if the girls lacked any power to exert creative, lyrical or stylistic control. So if that is the main beef, and not the bullshit of her thinking she was better than the other girls, then I can understand that totally nod

Yeah that was the problem with the single riddle from masterpiece theater.
It sounded like Hold On/You don't have to worry part 10. Foster/McElroy sound
was pretty much dated. They did a nice job with the slow jams on masterpiece but the uptempo material was pretty much familiar. I wish the ladies could have put their differences behind them because they were the premier girl group of the nineties bar none. Maybe that creep husband of dawn's planted that diva
attitude in dawn's head and led her to be bitchy toward the other members.
Dawn was my favorite member from the group but she could have went about things a better way.
