By that age, Prince had achieved so much more that it is plain obvious that it is laughable to compare the two of them ! Prince's two first CDs were released when Prince was 19-21 and he had composed, performed, arranged and produced every fucking tune on these two albums. If you want to compare, you're gonna lose the battle quickly. They are simply not in the same category. Prince is up there with Sly and Stevie, not Van Hunt. SIMPLE & TRUE ! Oh but I wasn't stating that Van Hunt is up Prince's league but I think he's one of the better current talents around. Prince is exceptionally talented and will leave an enormous mark on music. He's a bit beyond compairisson due to his history and that's why I find it to be weird that people even try to compare him with anyone. You can talk about the influences of al the greats on the people that came after them, but it's a bit useless to compare them because the older will always have a more imlpressive trackrecord. VH is interesting in the sense that he's one of the few current artists that deliver an album that is eclectic and coherent at the same time. There's not so much filler on it then on much of the factory produced R&B stuff that only seems to be interested in copying types like Timbaland. Possibly, VH was a bit gutted because of the fact that his young son would be reading those type of comments. I think as a parent, being a celebrety, you tend to forget that the web is full with opinions on you that might written in a style that you don't want you kid to see. One of the major things about being an artist is that u must have thick skin. U seriously cannot give a fuck about what others think of u. Because it's all subjective anyways. At the end of the day and in the morining when u rise, u must be at peace with who u are. Are u happy with your grooves? With your riffs? With your hooks? With your voice? Your clothes? Hair? Etc....If so, ...then fuck it and get to steppin'. Sincerly do your thang cuz dig,...if u were TRULY at ease with who u were, then u wouldn't feel the need to justify squat to anybody. Definately not on some website. I don't care if your son or third cousin once removed saw something about your music. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Lou: You make a few key errors in your assessment of Prince. First, you base your opinion off of his released tracks. He's so prolific and writes so many songs, he simply can't release them off. It's silly to think a prolific artist would write songs of all the same quality. Any true fan of music, and true fan of Prince knows that his best material is unreleased anyway. And yes, you are no better than a modern r&b artist. For you to judge Prince, when you yourself are not a real artist or capable yourself of writing any great songs (you've never written one well crafted song) tells me all I need to know about you. Thanks for trying, though. All the best, Lou Van Hunt: he fact that you even refer to me as a "modern R&B artist" lets me know that you have no idea who i am OR what traditional/ modern R&B is. and, i didn't bash Prince's songwriting. he no longer writes well-crafted songs. not that he can't. he doesn't even care to write good songs. they are just vehicles for his incredible musicianship and the "mission" that he's on. the fact that he CAN - AT WILL - write brilliant songs WHENEVER HE FEELS LIKE IT, is the greatest compliment to his true talent. Van Hunt: and that's why you're on my page? because i'm wack? if you're going to pretend to be a real fan of the man, at least, be up on what he's up on. is that why i've been invited to his house several times to play my songs for him? that's why he comes to my shows? that's why he plays my albums? that's why he supports me AND my music? because i'm wack? get a clue, Lou. Lou: Prince throws parties for a lot of C-List "celebrities" and 2nd rate musicians. Shit, Lindsay Lohan is at his parties, it doesn't make her a great artist or a great actress. P Diddy is there too, and everyone knows he's worthless. But I see that has deluded your mind to think you're more than what you are -- less than average, not even a real musician, barely an artist. I mean, who's heard of you? Three people who watched you on BET or something? What has your music ever accomplished, who has it touched? In other words, what has it meant to the world? What's your mark on it? I think Prince was more of a musician than you could ever hope to be, even as far back as 1979 or 1980. Just because you can't compare in any way, you're a one trick pony, and your music is not a meaningful or special, don't get upset. It's really okay. So,how did this argument turn out? Did Van ever respond back to you? Keep us up to date!

This for me is the key point. I think the reason Van is hurt is that there's a part of him that thinks the "haters" might be right. If you believe you're great then you really just do not give a shit. It's only when you think the criticism might be valid that you get upset. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Van Hunt is hilarious....
While I'm still a fan and will always be a fan of Van's, I think its interesting that when his friend asked him if he should respond to the negatives people were saying about him, he said NO and then proceeded to respond to what people were saying about Van in the "Van Hunt is Prince's son" thread. I really feel bad for Van and his future in the music biz if he cant take comments from people on the net.

As an artist myself, I hate to see Hunt or anybody else for that matter, get caught up in justifying yourself. An artist should never have to justify what they do. People either dig it or they don't. U should never OPENLY compare yourself to another artist. All u do is open yourself up for all kinds of shit. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz.
