Saw these boys live on new years eve this year. Was a bit skeptical based on the recent live clips on You Tube.....but I'm happy to report that they absolutely KILLED it here in Portland. They were always a great live band (I'd seen em twice before in 1980 & 1998) & still are. Even got to talk to several band members before & after the show....super nice guys.
If they are playin anywhere near you....check em out. They are one of the few old school bands that have kept their funky chops up. Fierce show. Funk Is It's Own Reward | |

Love Lakeside. Saw them three times, but not recently. If they come to Chicago, I will def check them out.

It's a cool bassline, not the best one around though  It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I remember a interview where Prince refers to the bassline as the 'baseline' and there are people over at Prince: Music & More who use that expression No biggie though

What's your favorite Lakeside album? Mine is 'Shot Of Love' No, it was a stupid mistake. My bro has had his own band for over 20 years, And he plays bass! And I've been around musicians way too much to not know better. See, I already had to retype this four times to get it right. Grey Goose is not to be played with.
Favorite album? hmmmmm.....Each one had songs that I loved. It's All the Way Live from Shot of Love.
I'll Never Leave You from from Rough Riders, and I love the album cover. The Beatles' cover, I Want To Hold Your Hand from Your Wish is My Command. Guess I'd have to say Fantastic Voyage. saw lakeside last year at funkfest in LA. I was more excited to see Zapp, but I must say Lakeside stole the show from George Clinton, Zapp, and Mary Jane Girls. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me | |
