Some of you really mislead this album...This is *NOT* a dance album...its the same ole same ole Janet album gussied up in a different dress. Just like the rest of her recent catalog there are way way way too many damn slow songs...they weigh the album down big time.
this album is a tad better then 20YO and Damita Jo...but not by much. return my arse. Space for sale...

I watched the Making of The Knowledge and he was acting like he was the directro..telling them what should be seen and stuff. However if his commitment to The Velvet Rope is as much as it says his part is on the album notes itself, he had some good ideas. Seems there hasnt been a theme for Janet other than Sex since she broke up with him. It's like "ok Janet what is this album about?" this album is a tad better then 20YO and Damita Jo...but not by much. return my arse. I think the first four songs on it are superb. Completely blew me away. I loved Feedback - the catchiest lead-off single she's released in years. But you're right, Ms. Dern-Harper, there are too many ballads and they're pretty dire. I do prefer Discipline to the last two albums, but it's all because of the opening four songs. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

The same can be said about almost any star/singer over 40. It's like when a person gets over 40, the public just doesn't seem to perceive them the same. Janet has always (and will continue) to be sexy in my eyes and the eyes of most men over the age of 30. 10 years ago, almost any teenager would find her sexy, but those guys have grown up. Since she's over 40, most teens probably wouldn't see her as a "sex object" like they would someone like Britney or Christina. I think if Janet wants to continue to have a lucrative career in music, she will have to put out SOLID albums for the next few years. She might should consider going into acting full time. I'm sure, she'd be great on a show like Dirty Sexy Money or Ugly Betty. As for the music part, Sex songs are what she thinks she is good at. I don't mind it as long as the song is good. My only complaint is that she would have continued to do different types of albums (lyrically especially). I think with her releasing albums like RN, Control, Janet, and VR; we always got something different...it wasn't all sex. I think so many are fed up with the sex stuff...especially after the Superbowl incident. I think she tried to make a "club" album with Discipline, but ended up making an updated version of "All For You" (which I don't think is a bad thing). As for Janet losing her "celebrity" status, I would TOTALLY disagree. Maybe in the public's eye, Janet is not as popular, but in Hollywood circles, she is as big as ever. In the black media, most would consider Janet as apart of Hollywood royalty. In the mainstream media, she is still well respected. She continues to get high ratings when she does shows like Ellen, Oprah, etc., so I wouldn't got there at all. [Edited 3/4/08 12:25pm] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Janet Jackson's new CD, Discipline, is the #1 album in America!
The record is projected to have sold 178,000 copies. This is Janet's first #1 album since 2001's All For You. Congrats, bitch! There was one nay-sayer who got a thread locked...well here is your "proof" Discipline is doing well. Christian Zombie Vampires

It's maybe not the concept, but the creation of his album is all about Janet being disciplined by men (as songwriters, as CEOs, etc.). Can't wait for Janet to be on SNL. Even thought it did nothing for her to promote on there, I thought she was excellent when she appeared on there for the rounds on DJ. As for "Rough" appearing anywhere, it it does, I assume it will be a Virgin greatest hits set (would she have any say in this at all?). I doubt she will seriously record it for a new album.

I for one was scared of her doing a "strip tease that bring u to your knees" at 40. How are young girls supposed to look UP to that? Disciplined by men? I wholefully agree. It seems the title was made after the song..however The theme of discipline is only showed on the s&m track, and the s&m clothing...
