some of her songs remind me of the Off the wall album... like an updated 2008 Off the wall

Not impressed. (again) Betta call jimmy & terry. This one is no different than 20 y.o. A few select tracks but not good enough. I would write a review but just go read the review in this week's Entertainment Weekly, it pretty much says it all. ---------------------------------

It's also one of the few negative reviews of the album. Most reviews have been very positive. EW has never liked Janet, though. Ironically for all their complaining, there are no porno lyrics on this album. Having heard enough tracks in full, I can definitely say this is my favourite Janet album since The Velvet Rope. From the snippets the album sounds too slow. Janet is at her best when she makes up-tempo dance tracks. Janet really should have worked with Timbaland. She needs his over produced big beats. To cover for her weak voice.

IM JUST SAYIN So Much Betta has a great bridge. Janet singing "I'm what you've been missin' U might need to jump on this." It sounds nothing like the rest of the track, and also closes the track. The final line is "Come on, jump on this," which is just spoken by Janet, like the "I'm gone." from Son of a Gun. I LOVE So Much Betta because it's so loose and catchy. Anything goes in that track, including: a) The robotic helium voice with the "So much betta I'm for you" refrain. b) The way the voice is played backwards at certain points of the song. c) The bridge d) The funky beat, which is oh-so danceable. [Edited 2/16/08 13:56pm] So much betta is my favourite, it's very Prince like, I love it so much!

I wanted more dance tracks too.

L.A Ried was picking up where he left off with TLC's 'Fanmail' project here? He treating it like he would have a TLC record.
Not suprised they released 'Rock with u' European markets just as much as a priority for an artist who wants to restore her star, so she can tour in future or sell albums? Luv is the better song, catchy. Greatest X ever was wortten by Tricky and Dream, so its meant to be catchy but damn it sounds so awkward/corny lol?

wrotten is not a word, it's WRITTEN
she has a good amount of dance tracks on here, and has never made an album with only one type of style, so it's not like she'll do it now I don't even care that she didn't work with timbaland though he's awesome, feedback, 2nite and some others could have very well been done by timmy or danja

Love that 2Nite follows Rock With U with no slow jams or interludes. What's Ur Name sounds cute. Not feeling Greatest X at all. Undecided about the rest. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Play it carefully, i would skip the TRl performance and get in line for the instore, I remember PRINCE did a lineup like this back in 1994 while promoting 1-800-new-funk, he did a today show appearance (inside) with Nona Gaye then was scheduled to do an Instore signing at 3pm at Tower than shows at the palladium that night that were general admission. Alot of people went to the today show which was CRAZY since he was inside, so when they showed to the instore at around 10am the line for the instore was already around the block at Tower records, than Prince got in about a half hour late, and stopped signing a little after 5 so ALOT of people were left standing there wondering what happend, and not even realizing he was gone, I skipped the today show and i was one of the last people he signed for, so there were people out there for about 4 hours or so that didnt even get in and wasted their day, plus they sacrificed a good spot at the GA show if they didnt have someone down there holding a spot for them, even though those were midnight shows, the line was still pretty long at 6pm. If this one has monster hits and wins major awards, get back to me and rub my face in it, but I really don't think that is close to happening. Britney is in and out of rehab and her singles will have more success. Sorry J, betta bring back the grooves of 'Velvet Rope' & 'Janet'. Why did she seem more adult 10 years ago????? ---------------------------------

As a Janet fan, I will say she has reached her pinnicle in her career from the late 80's thru the 90's. Every artis has their peak(Michael Jackson-Thriller Prince-Pruple Rain etc) There will be a time when today's hot artist like Beyonce will hit hers then it will be time for her to make way for the next generation of artist. Janet Jackson is an established artist and icon in her own right and has no need to compete with today's artist no more than Michael Jackson needs to compete with Usher, Justin or Chris Brown. Their legacy is set in stone. That doesn't mean these artist should be shot like an old race horse. As long as they have their following, they should continue to make music without worry of record sales and top 5 hits. Janet is a dance/pop artist, and I am glad she is finally going back to what made her hot in the first place.Damita Jo was a pretty good cd(the sex was overkill) that had a few good tracks. 20YO sucked the big one. Discipline sounds like it may be her best cd since Velvet Rope(critically acclaimed, yet didn't sell the numbers of her previous work). This new cd seems to have a very house music flavor which may not connect with alot of younger people since shit hop beats are what rules the top 10, but her fanbase are not the 17year olds, it is the people in their 30's and 40's who can appreciate a good dance beat. Which is why i stay pretty clear of leaks on the net, mainly because they suck quality wise and you cant get a good feel of the track. I used to even hate when i would get promo adavances with snippets of songs on them, theres nothing worse than a sample of a song, i cant believe this is actually used to judge on websites, and honestly its how alot of reviewers do their reviews, they dont listen to complet songs, unless they are at listening parties. So with Janet and Mariah i have pretty much avoided the leaks, though i have heard their singles and a a few other of Janets, but you cant tell anything from the net, poor quality mp3's, digital sound is crap for everyone, etc...So for Janet i will wait till this Friday when i hit Norms in NYC for a copy and then give a view. I´ve listened to bits at amazon and the only song that I am feeling is Can´t B Good. I know they´re just bits of the songs and some music requires more than just one listen, but so far Ia m not feeling it. Let´s see if it grows on me.
