Yep. Rene's first involvement on a Janet project was with Rhythm Nation.

Janet told Rolling Stone, "Rene' has been my co-writer on almost all my songs since Rhythm Nation but refused to take credit. He wanted to prove that he wasn't with me to take, but to give. I appreciated that attitude, but I also saw that it was leading to feelings of fraudulence-on his part, not mine. On The Velvet Rope, Rene's name appears for the first time as a co-executive producer and co-writer. Just as it's wrong to claim undeserved credit, it's wrong to deny credit when it's deserved."

http://www.angelfire.com/...on/a5.html

I hope this put this non-sense to bed and we can further discuss all that's happening with Janet now, Not Janet Then

thank you, janet has never denied whatever rene's involvement was, jimmy jam said he never saw rene with a pen writing or him being in the studio creating songs...so basically janet must give rene credit for helping write songs in private or something, and for some reason rene has only been able to write all these great songs with/for janet, nobody can convince me that some record label exec wouldnt hire mr elizondo and put him in the studio with one of the many janet clones that have popped up over the years.

The creative process behind Control is well documented. JJ & TL had most of the songs prepared for Sharon Bryant, who turned the project down. Then they chose Janet from a list of A&M artists that head of A&R John McClain had given to them. They sat down with her in informal settings such as diners and listened to her talk about her life, and the three adapted the lyrics for Janet's experiences.

They turned in the album and John McClain told them to go back and come up with another uptempo like "Nasty", so "What Have You Done For Me Lately" was written and recorded from scratch.

Personally I could give a fuck who wrote 'em, they were great songs regardless.

JANETS SAMPLING MICHAELS ROCK WITH YOU?!

Janet Jackson - Discipline

First up, though, was Janet's Discipline. If you've heard the single, Feedback, you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the album. It's crisp, danceable R&B lavished with Janet's trademark velvet harmonies.

The stand-out track was probably Tonight, a bubbling club track which can only be Jackson's response to Rihanna's Don't Stop The Music. Reid mentioned that some of the tracks weren't finished - and this one sounded like it was missing a sample somewhere in the mix. Once that's added, this could be Janet's biggest dance success since Together Again.

Love, Love, Love and This Can't Be Good saw the lyrical return of the sweet singer who first raised her head on Let's Wait Awhile - all coy and bashful while falling head over heels in love.

But the sleazy siren of 20 YO is also present. Title track Discipline is a gruseome plea for fetishistic S&M sex - with Janet referring to her lover as "Daddy" while asking to be tied up and disciplined. Given that her father is a well-documented control freak who used to beat his kids, this is more than a little uncomfortable.

Speaking of family connections, there's long been a rumour that Janet and Michael will team up again (as they did on 1996's Scream) this year. Well, nothing I heard today confirms that rumour - but there is a track called Rock With You that appears to sample the single of the same name from Off The Wall. Could the finished version feature guest vocals by the former King of Pop? I genuinely hope not.

The remaining two tracks, Rollercoaster and Greatest Ex Ever, didn't really set my world alight - but you never know what'll happen on repeated listens.

The main thing seems to be that Janet is back on form, vocally and lyrically. The record is very safe and commercial, although I'm not sure where they'll go for the third single (Tonight surely has to be the second). But as a first step towards career rehabilitation Def Jam have made a strong play for their newest diva. eek biggrin biggrin biggrin

Damn sharon bryant turned down the opportunity to work with them. That would
have been one hell of a project. Her solo album in 1990 was fair but she probably would have been more of a household name with jam & lewis in her corner.

Janets performing at London's G-A-Y

http://www.dailystar.co.u...kson-Live/

17th January 2008

JANET Jackson is set to give legendary London club night G.A.Y a sendoff by playing the final live event at its traditional home.

The knees-up is not only popular with the pink pound, it regularly attracts star performers.

Kylie, 39, Girls Aloud and Sugababes have all put on raunchy shows at The Astoria on London’s Charing Cross Road, which is being demolished and replaced by flats.

Saucy Janet, 41, releases her highly anticipated first album for new label Def Jam/Island on February 26.

A source told me: “Janet is really excited about her new music and can’t wait to get out and start performing again for her fans. She’s very eager to get to the UK, so when she was approached about playing G.A.Y she thought it sounded a wonderful way to mark her comeback.

“The capacity will mean it’s an intimate show and one of her smallest in years. It will be truly spectacular.”

G.A.Y is renowned for putting on the biggest names in music in a small environment.

I hope it doesn’t lose its magic when it re-homes itself at Heaven nightclub.

Amy Winehouse, 24, famously pulled out of a set halfway through in January 2007 after dashing off stage to be sick.
Spice Girls took to the stage in the summer of 1996 for their first ever live show.

Janet’s label premiered a select amount of new tunes last night, including first single Feedback, to select media.

This is a key point that most people seem to miss. MOST SONGWRITING IS NOT DONE IN THE STUDIO, so Jimmy and Terry would have no way of knowing how much Rene did. Some of you might want to remember that MJ wrote some of his biggest hits in a tree! Not a studio, a tree. lol

"Fraudelence". Interesting choice of words there. Looks like Rene had an attack of conscience. It was his idea to conceal his involvement, but I think he must have come to realise that lying to the public is never cool.

I love Janets History, but I think she's peeked..It's not like she's an Artist and always evolving, she's a pop singer that has aged and her time is over.

Certain Acts will never gain momentum again, She's one of them. Now if she can produce an Album loyal to her fans and pleasing to hear then thats good enough but if she thinks she can rule the charts again it's over. Even Brittany Can't do that.
We all want a big hit again because

From dailystar.co.uk

JANET’S BIT OF DISCIPLINE
ABOVE: Janet Jackson18th January 2008 Your Shout
I’VE had a sneak peek at two of this year’s biggest albums, Janet Jackson’s Discipline and That Chick by Mariah Carey.

I can reveal that Janet, 41, kicks out the slow jams in favour of club bangers on her strongest and most varied collection in donkey’s years.

Destiny’s Child producer Rodney Jerkins, 30, is the man behind the standout cuts. Sweet, synth heavy lead-off track Love Love Love is the musical equivalent of Fruit Pastels while buzzy hook fest Feedback is the girl’s best single in a decade.

Elsewhere the deliciously Stevie Wonder-ish This Can’t Be Good highlights Janet’s whisper-quiet vocal texture, while Tonight sounds like a future No 1.

Only the super sexy (or plain filthy) title track, a ballad penned by Ne-Yo, 26, misses the mark.

I guess the title track is about the SuperBowl...another positive review from The Sun UK:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/s...702648.ece

RED hot divas MARIAH CAREY and JANET JACKSON are going head to head this spring by releasing comeback albums just weeks apart.

The curvy twosome have scheduled their make or break collections around the same time to maximise their impact.

Music Biz have had an exclusive listen to both of the records and reckon they’re both strong efforts.

Janet’s offering, Discipline, is an X-rated affair.

The title track focuses on her famous Superbowl nipple-flashing incident before plunging into adult territory.

She apologises to her “daddy” for “touching herself”. She goes on: “I can smell you on my sheets/ Daddy I disobeyed you/ Now come punish me/ I’ve been bad, make me cry”.

The rest of the effort is stuffed with an immaculate selection of club tracks and lung-bursting ballads.

Mariah’s LP, That Chick, features a string of collaborations with the hottest rappers around.

Migrate featuring T-PAIN is a titanic future crunk smash.

Not so successful is the diva’s duet with DAMIAN MARLEY called Cruise Control, where she slips into a cringeworthy Jamaican accent, singing: “Me say no man, tink I’m jokin’?”

The listening session at a top London hotel was hosted by Island Records CEO ANTONIO REID.

And he didn’t miss the opportunity to taunt ailing British label EMI.

He gloated: “That’s a music company. Well, it used to be.

“We realised that it would take some work with Janet after her last two EMI albums weren’t successful, just like the last Mariah EMI album.”

It's also #52 on the Billboard R&B chart and debuted at #38 on the Rhythmic Top 40 chart. Maybe it'll make the dance singles chart soon, lol.
