Stevie Wonder of course! Patrice Rushen. Andre 3000 has been known to play instruments on Outkast's albums. Stokely also on occasion played all the things on Mint's albums.
Peace and be wild!

stevie doesn't play ALL the instruments. He always has many musicians on his albums but i think becuase he cuts alot of shit live. Stevie is the first to do it though(i think), i bet if he had sight he would play guitar and bass as well. I love his synthesiser solos althought there's not many of them

Stevie does play bass, for example, on the Spinners' cut 'It's A Shame' (which he wrote), he is credited for bass, drums, piano & horn arragement.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I think you would get a lot less responses in regards to other artists if you actually asked: What Artists other than Prince played all/most of their instruments on their albums AND ACTUALLY HAD HITS WITH THEM?

Prince
Stevie Wonder
Paul McCartney
Bobby McFerrin (Don't Worry, Be Happy is actually ALL him, and ALL Vocal!)
...???
[PRINCE 4EVER!]

Nice video.

Has anyone heard D'angelo play guitar live?

In the live performance version of the Left & Right video, D'Angelo actually plays rhythm guitar live.

I've yet to see Stevie play electric bass guitar. I certainly haven't seen it credited as such. If you claim it's on "It's A Shame", I'm more inclined to think it's a bass synthesizer, not a a bass guitar.

You might be correct... it's been awhile since I've listened to 'It's A Shame'

Gonna search for the tune on YouTube...

Definitely could have been. It was just a photo, though it was presented as real in a Stevie biography. Still, I've seen pictures of MJ playing instruments, too, but I don't really believe them!
