Plus, the Oscars are on ABC, but CBS writers have been allowed back in for talk shows so it's likely since the Grammys are on CBS that there MAY be writers. Just saying.
Won't change the Grammys anyway. They suck with and without writers unless the RIGHT people win the Grammys. And the performers sizzle, which, in many times, it don't.

Shows that were contracted before the strike was set will air without violating the picket line. So we're still seeing the first few episodes of new shows. It's likely AI was contracted for an entire run.
Grammys can still be cast, but they would be barred from using any motion picture or TV-related productions or performances. However, out of solidarity and since some artists and Academy members are also WGA members they might opt out. test

Well writers get paid shit, compared to what a shit actor gets paid. Its like in Baseball, the players get the millions and the umpires almost nothing. And without writers or umpires you'd have neither. Actors that people think are great, wouldnt even jobs or popularity if it wasnt for writers. Yeah writers for Hollyfuck still get better salaries than people who work regular jobs get. And from the way it seems, actors sometimes improvise. Well sometimes is the key word, but in other terms if that's all Hollywood need to keep on going, that shows even more fakery. I find it amusing that David Letterman can get back to work with his writers yet Jay Leno is in a fight with writers over some stuff he said!

Timmy84 said: Stymie said: Well, writers may get less than actors but it's not "shit", plus they go into this line of business knowing what they would get paid. Why don't the actors that support them so much step up and give them what they demand? Teachers? They need to be the ones getting the real money.

[Edited 1/10/08 13:04pm] Actors wouldnt exist without writers so its really all about that, we can say everyone is overpaid, true, but thats what the last 25 years have brought us. Case in point there was a documentary on Baseball called "When it was a game" and it was pointed out how in 1860 when baseball was starting, the player made 5 times the average worker, 110 years later in 1970 they still made 5 times the average worker, but 30 years later in 2000 and on they make 60 times the average worker. So why no change in 110 years and then all of a sudden the floodgates opening in the last 25 years. I'm all for people getting paid for their work, but writer's striking about awards shows. Many awards shows don't get released on DVD or the internet. The only ones that they play more than once are the VMAs and the MTV movie awards...they play the hell out of these two. Plus, the writing for these awards shows has been shitty for years now, so I say fuck the picket line and let's see if having no writers can make these ego feasts...er, I mean award shows any worse than they already are. Damn, what's next? Is the WGA going to make them postpone the Olympics too? If this strike fucks up the Olympics, I'm going to be highly pissed. Prince Rogers Nelson

You know? People are all for the writer's strike without failing to realize that it's the writers that help to make the shitty films and TV shows and award shows. Millionaires supposed to get arrogant film companies to allow them pay for internet plays, it won't get anywhere with them boycotting from their posh mansions. Thank You! Many films lately have been pure garbage. The only people in this world who I agree with striking are teachers. Without teachers, we wouldn't have doctors, lawyers, writers, or actors; and these poor people have to deal with badass kids while receiving a shitty salary. If the teachers aren't picketing, than these writers need to chill out and take their asses back to work. This is getting just as ridiculous as those baseball strikes. Why the hell do baseball players need more money? They get to do a job that centers on playing a game they love; and getting millions of dollars for it. It's disgusting because firefighters, police officers, and teachers don't make anywhere near the amount of money these greedy bastards make, yet they deal with it and do their fucking jobs. Hollyfuck is losing millions upon millions upon millions of dollars. This decade has been funny because the entertainment world has been fucked up royally. You can't do anything without criticism and controversy and what this strike does is just makes things even more complicated. The strike will go on after the Oscars but people are still wondering if they're gonna stop because the shitty companies that hired their asses in the first place ain't gonna help out in their situation.

I don't see why these companies would bend to these writer's requests. They're getting all the internet and DVD sales, so they are still banking. Plus, I don't think the WGA told these companies they weren't allowed to play re-runs of these shows, so there's more money for these companies and less for the striking writers. Not to mention that many of these companies probably have a reality show or two that can bring them money. Actors will become obsolete due to real people who go on reality shows and if that happens, than the writers just basically fucked themselves. I think reality TV has had just as high ratings as scripted TV shows have in recent years anyway. Andy Warhol was right when he said in the future everybody would be famous for at least 15 minutes.
