Both are horrible titles.

mad This is the worst news thus far. Ever.

But I'll take Migrate over That Chick You Like. That Chick... screams hot ghetto mess. And damn me, I'll probably like it. boxed

That Chick You Like is even worse when you stick "I'm" in front of it.

All Access has now posted Mariah Carey - TBA as going for adds in January. But TBA going for adds means NEVER going for adds in my experience.

So true! Subconsciously I must have already been trying to change the title because my mind refused to accept it. Well I hope it’s an undeniable groove.

It does sound like something she would say, doesn't it?

But it's almost a little too obvious to be true. The first single from Mimi was It's Like That, after all.

so guys would be calling up DJ's asking them to play "I'm that chick you like"? lol

i hope it's at least shortened to That Chick, if it's picked as a lead off single.

Interesting that L.A. seems to run single selection in a similar manner to Berry Gordy's old quality control meetings...have the staff vote.

Man, this is a great thread. Y'all are deep thinkers.

I'm not even familiar with MC's oeuvre but I've read all three pages and learned lots about the music biz in general.

I guess my only thought is when, as an artist, do you have enough money?

If you aren't doing it for the bucks anymore you can make any damn record you want to becasue you wouldn't be attached to any financial outcome.

You'd probably have to release a record like that on your own though.

I know little about Mariah but from what I can recall from press she's gotten over the years about her personal life she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer so perhaps my wonderings are moot.

If she buys and is attached to her own public image she's probably already reached her creative pinnacle.

But I'm rooting for her to surprise us. There's no one else that has been able to sing in that upper register since Minnie so I'm holding out hope that Mariah will team with a songwriter of some depth like Stevie and blow us all away.

Anyway, thanks to Dance for that Nipslip photo.

Im curious what songs got cut from this album, she said she had 22 and they were cutting it down to 10-12 tracks, these tracks better be top of the line, or she better hold onto those "cut" tracks and get another album ready. But based on titles so far "Im the chick you like" "Migrate" "do watcha came to do" and "Heat" she seems to forget she is 38 at the time of this record and not 16.

Anywho, what I think is hard for people to grasp is that while some of these stars are in their late 30s, mid 40s, etc. their mentality and spirits are youthful. When you feel good and generally look good, your age is a non-factor. You don’t feel 40ish. You still like to do many of the same things you did 10 years ago but now you might have wisdom, more money, less time, etc. But entertainment is youth driven and society tells us anyone over XX is old.

We look at stars, especially women, and say they should be doing this or wearing that but when you’re healthy and 30s+ or you know someone in their 40s+, that’s happy and healthy and takes care of themselves, you would not know how old they are.

I know people in their 20s who look and act ‘old’ and settled and think limited thoughts. It’s a state of mind and how you care for yourself. Fashion and society dictates certain mores but you decide how you want to live your life. So at times I look at Mariah, Janet, Madonna, Gwen and a few others and shrug my shoulders and cheer them on.

Michael Jackson once said, how old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?

True but it goes both ways, fashion wise is something totally different. Take this year for example, America voted Hayden Panettiere the SEXIEST "Woman" in America, first of all the girl is cute, but "woman" she is 18. At the same time CBS cast Raquel Welch (66 years Old) as a "seductress" in a tv show. So fashion wise i think things work alot differently, on the music front, i of course champion every artist that is older and has longevity because to me longevity is what its all about, but at times it can come off as being forced or even phony, you can still be young in your mind without it looking forced or phony and fashionably ladies like Janet,Mariah,Gwen etc all pull that off, but at times things they do can seem forced, just like things that Prince has done in the past seemed a little forced and "wanting to fit in". So i think there is a fine line there, i mean if Olivia Newton John came out with "Physical" the 2008 Tpain Remix, what would we think?. So im not saying a 38 year old cant be young, considering im 37 with a 20 year old girlfriend, 38 is not old, though "media" and mostly music dictates that it is, you can still do what you do and not have it seemed forced, I mean U2 almost near 50, could roll up a younger band and smoke them for breakfast.
