Who has heard of Beverly Knight?

She is a UK soul singer but she is very underrated especially in the US and I heard even in the UK. It's ashame because she is very overlooked singer unlike her UK predecessors like Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone. I believe she is very good singer what do you think?.

Beverley has released 3..no 4 albums over here (UK) and was around before both Wino and Stony - however she is a black singer with a great voice and that doesn't all get the recogbition that a white singer with an okay voice can attract.

Sorry to take it there, but that's how I see it..

I've been on to her for a few years but only have two albums. I heard she puts on a mean live show. Did she open for Prince in Europe?

Yes she did, I saw her several times opening for Prince and during after shows.
She was as energic as a little Tina Turner and she is truly passionate about what she does. Her voice is soulful and distinctive, check it out:

I think it has more to do with the fact that Beverley Knight had a couple of hits a few years back (Shoulda Woulda Coulda at the time could certainly rival the radio airplay that Winehouse is getting now) but with the music industry being what it is they have moved onto the newer artists in the same way that Amy and Joss will be all but forgotten about before you know it. Sad but true, but nothing to do with her skin colour.

I also think Beverley Knight doesn't have the same "edgy" appeal - she's a bit too "mumsy", if you know what I mean, and to be blunt her music is far too safe and middle of the road these days compared to the likes of Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse.

But hey, big respect to Bev cos (a) she comes from my town and (b) she comes across as a very genuine, nice woman and handles herself with a whole load more self-respect and dignity than many of the young upstarts around now. (Hey, maybe that's it - maybe you have to be a ruthless bitch to get people's attention?)
This is not an exit

Which I believe is very appaling about the music industry nowadays. It is not like how it used to be back thirty years ago when entertainment was not all about image but charisma, talent and good music. It is not about who is prettier, who has the better clothes. Back then it was about looking good but having class with it though! Which is the major difference. Back than a woman can look beautiful just by wearing a long dress now it is all about wearing hot pants, thongs and see though clothing.

Which I believe makes Beverly really different because in that video clip she wore a simple black dress which I beleive makes her 10 times more beatiful tham a woman who wears a thong or hot pants,

I believe so toocan really represent the UK because Amy Winehouse is a troubled alchol and drug addict her longevity in the business is questionable and Joss Stone has been accused of having sex for tracks.

Beverly seems like a really good role model.

Yes she is, but at the same time the Medias are promoting bad behaviour, the bad stuff sells and they just love putting people down and laugh at their personal misery. Beverly stays true to herself and she always said that being an artist is not living the rock n'roll life style.

Ottensen

She was wildly popular here in German musician circles at the beginning of her recording career. She wasn't a mainstream mainstay as she only had intensive commercial exposure for a short time here, but she still was definitely a player's and critic's darling.
