The Jackson 5 or not The J5; You decide? NEVER HAD a GIRL
The Ripples & Waves + Michael This song is titled "Never Had a Girl" credited to The Ripples & Waves + Michael (supposedly and early name before they stuck with the Jackson 5). It was released in 1971 by the same company (Steeltown) who recorded the J5s first couple of tracks in late 1967 well before the Motown Days. Some historians say it's the J5 while other's say it's a different group, well, what do you all think? It's a nice track regardless of who recorded it. I don't think it's the J5. That doesn't really sound like Michael singing.
Edit: The more I listen to it the more it is sounding like the J5. This one is very hard to pick. Initial reaction was - no way. But now I think it could be them. They just were younger with not as much vocal experience as they did when "Diana Ross Presents..." came out. [Edited 1/10/08 0:46am] | |
