Every time I play my Marvin Anthology set, I bump this! Classic duet from the King and Queen of Motown.

I can't believe this wasn't a bigger hit. Only #19 Pop / #15 Black.

"You're a Special Part of Me" was a little more successful (#4 R&B/#12 Pop). The two Stylistics covers were the singles in Britain; "You Are Everything" reached the top 5 over there.

Yeah, "Special Part" was more successful, but My Mistake is definitely the better song. These chart positions should be the other way around!

Critics claim that Marvin and Diana's duets couldn't match up to Marvin and Tammi's but I'm thinking "what's the point of comparing?!" Marvin & Tammi are legendary together but Marvin and Diana were special in their own right together. I love their "vocal chemistry" in "You're a Special Part of Me". cool

Yeah, just as they were ready to record the album, Marvin was seen smoking his weed in the studio and Diana tried telling Berry to stop Marvin from doing that and Marvin looked up at Berry in his "high" face and said "then I can't sing".

There's a YouTube video somewhere of the album's engineer Ralph Terrana explaining the story with his brother Russ.

Go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...a_&_Marvin The YouTube link is at the bottom somewhere.

Pretty much Marvin was acting an ass towards Diana and Berry figured it was best the two sing separately.
