I think another thing that has given Girls Aloud "life" is the fact that they have stayed consistent, since 2002 they have done the same ritual, album, tour, album, tour etc.. so they really didnt stop at any point, and now they just released their 5th album which was already certified UK platnum and has two top 10 singles so far, and a tour set for mid 2008. Another thing would be them making a decision NOT to come to America and attempt to breakthrough, this was a smart move, maybe the smartest ever, even though i have spent a fortune on their imports, the only reason i think they have lasted is because they didnt come here and try to appeal to this market.

Thats a good point. Uk acts have often tried to break America (look at how desperate EMI tried to break Robbie, after that ridiculous contract he signed).

Cant say I love girls aloud, but they seem consistant enough. I even dug their cover of "i stand by you". Adding nothing to it, but anyway.

Sugerbabes never tried america did they? Girls aloud are sorta in the same boat as them musically (maybe more linear stylically then sugerbabes). I remember thinking that "sounds of the underground" was surprisenly good, particually for a pop idol entrant. The rest is history I guess.

Sugarbabes released one album here that really did nothing, im not sure if it had a single or anything, but i remember one being issued here. Girls Aloud, there was never an attempt to try any of that here, which i think in the end was the best for them. I think theres a difference between Girls and Sugar and that i would say is the "raunchiness" that Girls Aloud have, its not a blatant sexual thing, or a "cursing" type thing its just a more grown up "british raunch", Sugarbabes are more straightforward pop, Girls are, especially now, more dance/guitar driven.

Yeah, as I said, marketing wise, girls aloud have been great from the start. Ever get into Mis-teeq? "scandalous" was the cut in clubs a few years back. Its a pop track, but it was big in clubs. Sorta like "love machine" "sounds of the underground" etc.. still get played in plebby UK clubs today. Iam partial to "biology" myself.

Not related to girls aloud, but heres "scandalous

http://uk.youtube.com/wat...0ZayLAysjg

Production is faux dr dre lite, but its a cool cut

Yeah i liked Mis-teeq also, thought they were very underrated and ignored. Girls Aloud i found out about by accident, i had heard the name but never heard the music and then someone posted a whole bunch of photos of them and some videos (pre youtube) on a celeb site, and i got into them from that day, at that point they were between their second album and the "Chemistry" cd which featured "Biology", so i had to back track album wise with them from Chemistry to the first two, and then 2006's best of with new tracks and bonus disc and 2007's "Tangled Up" which is their best so far i think.

PCD.

At least a few of the girls can sing and their songs are better.

I do enjoy Mel B., she's a female crush here. heart

if Geri hadn't left the Spice Girls would have had a much better chart success with the third album.

I doubt it. Rodney Jenkins has an american hip-hop/r&b production sound that was lousy for The Spice Girls. You can't take a dance-pop girl group, change them to Team Brandy and think it going to work within the dance community. disbelief

you are assuming Geri would have let them go down that route.

I'm tell you that the third album's biggest downfall were The Spice Girls' bad choices of producers that time around, regardless if Geri was still a member of the group or not.
