Anita's voice, but Sade music is more classic. Btw has anyone heard the song called "Maureen" by Sade?

Sade.
But, to be frankly honest with you,
I'd do 'em both.
Maybe not at the same time,
but back to back.
Sure.

I LOVE both, but Anita Baker has a more unique vocal style, she`s a song stylist.

I`m shocked to hear about her bitchy side though eek

Miki was sport about it though. The 1st thing that crossed my mind when I 1st heard this shit is "Why the hell did a crazy wild and fiery woman like Miki, let something like that slide without punching that rotton bitch?" but then again, once a lady,,will ALWAYS be a lady.

Miki Howard is another wonderful songstress, gorgeous voice...

Yeah,I've heard this from many people.Apparently,Anita is not the nicest person to be around. They say she's very bitchy and diva-ish.

wow I thought I was the only one who wasn't feeling Anita, I can't understand half the words coming from her mouth when singing

Damn, I was waiting for somebody else to say that so I'd know it wasn't just me! She gets to rolling those words around in her mouth and I have to read the lyrics to know what they are!

I like Anita, but it's true....sometimes,I can't even tell what she's saying in her songs! This wasn't really the case with 'Rapture',it's more of a problem with the albums that came after.

She always tells this story about the recording of "Angel", and how she mumbled the words because she didn't like that song. It stuck with her I guess, and it became a signature.

Depends on my mood. I really like both. Though, urban ac stations have killed my interest in Anita, I still pull out Songstress and Compositions occasionally.

As for Sade, I still love the Promise and Stronger Than Pride albums.

That's a damn good remake. Gamble and Huff did an excellent job on that one.

I am a fan of both, but as far as vocals go, I have to go with Anita. She's just a much better vocalist than Sade.

for one song, probably Sade, but after a while her music sounds really monotonous.

If I was going to see a concert I'd prefer to see Anita Baker.

This is a real tough one cause I love both Sade and Anita but if I go by who I "feel" the most, it would be Anita. Sade is a VERY close 2nd.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I used to say the same thing, I still do coz 'Nita is technically by faaar better than Sade, vocally.

But Sade's voice is raw and exposed, like Billie Holiday and Nina Simone before her, she gets RIGHT to point and destroy you. She moves me more than Anita, and beside she has a unique voice.

Anita, is from the Sarah Vaughan-school even though she put her personal spin on her shit. Sade on the other hand, is a new song stylist.

By better music, THIS album comes to mind:

I knew about the infamous Luther VS. Anita rivalry.

But I also heard that even Smokey Robinson had a few problems with Anita as well, like she was a potential threat as a opening act or something.

Chaka(during her highdays lol) addressed her once in the audience in a joking matter, right before she per4med "I'm Every Woman"(this was in the late 80's). She said "This next song is dedicated to a baaaaad MUMBLING bitch who's sitting here with us this evening; Ms.Anita Baker". lol

Anita didn't take that too kindly, she grabbed her things and went to the nearest exit. Chaka apologized for the "crass joke" and went on to say that her own "big mouth is a BIG trouble".

Yeah, I've heard that personality deal is the reason behind her "joint tour" troubles... disbelief

Back in '88 or '89 she was opening for Luther. The night I went to see them at MSG, Anita didn't show up. The excuse was 'voice troubles', so Sinbad opened the show. Man, I was royally ticked. Later I heard she & Luther weren't exactly buddies on that tour.

Almost. Luther was happy to have Vanessa L. Williams as his opening act. She was never a threat to him as far as performances go.
