Puff Daddy & The Family - No Way Out Appreciation Puff Daddy & The Family - No Way Out Maybe it is because I discovered this album when I was first becoming a young adult, (age 13/14), maybe it was because I liked the rap music on this album and hadn't yet discovered how unoriginal some of the songs were, maybe it was because Puff Daddy was making some awesome videos back then, (Say what you will about P. Diddy now-a-days, I know he is kinda a joke, but, back then, videos like "Been Around The World" and "Victory" were full scale productions ala Michael Jackson's videos.), maybe it was because MTV, BET and radio pumped the singles to the charts, or maybe..just maybe it was something else. Maybe it was because the album was amazing. Sure it has some filler, but all and all, I think it was one of the best for it's time. Cheers to Puff Daddy's finest work. I loved the album when I was 14, but my cousin loved it more. It was thanks to this album, I was able to carefully listen for samples in hip hop from then on. | |

Can't Nobody Hold Me Down has a sample of MJ's Rock With You, can someone show me where in the track it happens and what actually is sampled? MJ Fan 1992-Forever

Good topic for a thread.
Ominous cd cover of the future of Bad Boy- Puffy standing there with Mase, the Lox, and Black Rob. I think that the album would've been bigger had Biggie lived and been able to help promote it off of the back of Life After. Not a bad album but it sounds much cornier 10 years later. Any song on there with just Puff rapping sounds bad in '08. "Victory" is still arguably Biggie's greatest 16 bars. "Been Around The World" and "Can't Hold Me Down" still sound fun after all of these years. "Benjamins" cranks up a party for the old heads the same way it did 10 years ago- possibly Puff's 1 timeless record. "Young G's" with Puffy, Jay-Z, and Biggie is a forgotten classic. The cool thing about that song now is to judge who had the best verse- Jay-Z or Biggie. The answers' not as obvious as it was when the cd 1st came out. I'm still with Biggie's verse, however. Biggie's death greatly increased Combs' profile, which is a sad way for that to happen. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
