Morrissey live in London 21/01/08

Saw Morrissey live at the first night of his week long residency at the Roundhouse in Camden.
I can't believe he did "Death Of A Disco Dancer"- I was in heaven...he was really funny, as usual and the band are so tight- they really rock out in some places and you could see 'virgin' Morrissey gig goers looking shocked wink
If anyone has tickets then they are gonna have a great time.

Setlist from last night:

How soon is now?
First of the gang to die
I just want to see the boy happy
Stop me if you think you've heard this one before
That's how people grow up
Sister I'm a poet
Something is squeezing my skull (new song where he lists the anti-depressants he's taken with the plea of "Don't give me more!")
All you need is me
The national front disco
Death of a disco dancer
Life is a pigsty (thunderous!)
The loop
Billy Budd
Mama lay softly on the riverbed (another new track- this sounded great live and has the best ending of three drummers all playing together!)
The world is full of crashing bores
I'm throwing my arms around Paris
Why don't you find out for yourself?
Stretch out and wait (bathed in sexy red light and performed beautifully)
Irish blood, English heart
ENCORE: The last of the famous international playboys (I love how this has become his new anthem...and he IS TLOTFIP!)

cool

Wow! Great setlist!

I just hope his band have perked up a bit since the last tour - everything seemed kind of slowed-down.

And I am glad to see Playboys is back in the set - something of a forgotten classic in his repertoire.

Thanks for the report.

I know what you mean about the band on the last tour, but they really have a great dynamic now-
they seem really tight, full of energy, everyone playing together, varying the instruments to achieve sound effects and mood etc.
Life is a pigsty and the two brand new tracks are really complex in sound and texture and were executed perfectly.

Very good that he's doing The NME Disco.
