One of the most sexiest album covers.. I had this album but I don't know what the hell happen to it. neutral
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Wow, when you use that term that suggests niche porn, you totally strip all her hotness away.

Wowugotit

I've always liked her as a singer. My favorite CD of her's is her first - THE RIGHT STUFF. It contains jams, slow jams and great pop. My favorite track from that CD is "Dreamin'" and "The Right Stuff" a close second. I love "(He's Got) The Look" and the remix of the song plus the track "Be A Man". All of the videos from the album were fantastic.

So true on both songs. As my friend would say, "Next was very next."

i hated when Vanessa ditched the dance grooves for the whitney-lite stuff...her first two albums had the perfect mix.

i kinda disagree...i'd rather she grow into more mature sounding songs than trying to be an uptempo artist. people like janet and madonna will probably be never taken seriously if they try to do anything outside of dance pop at this stage, because neither have took the plunge and actually tried AC for more than one or two songs at a time. vanessa reminds me of Sting and john mellencamp, who kind of moved away from the whole pop/mainstream sound and went in their own direction. you can always revisit uptempo songs, but it's harder to do it in reverse.

lol

her "Everlasting Love" album was neutral i think i listened to it once. huge disappointment.
'
"the sweetest days" is a nice album. i like her more jazzy type r&b vibe than some of the more pop oriented. but i think that same vibe was all over "the comfort zone" album. she has a few hits compilations as well.

I think it was a natural transition for her just a little prematurely but maybe it was just right for her. I also like that even though she is a dancer, she didn't have to be a dance artist or an artist dancing in every uptempo video, etc. Ultimately, I like the direction she's gone in.

That's a pretty good album (mostly I just like the title track and the Isleys remake) and she's all kinds of gorgeous...but NO to that picture. It looks like the cowardly lion resting on top of my grandma's dining room curtains.

I understand growth, but she totally abandoned uptempo grooves on The Sweetest Days. All it was is that she got a taste of crossover money and liked it.

Her follow up album, Next, was even worse than The Sweetest Days.

Vanessa's final (minor) hit, Happiness, was a good track, counting the Nu Shooz sample.

nod my last favorite song from her.

It also was missing from her proper hits set called "The First Ten Years", probably because the label kept wanting to push her in the safe AC direction, especially since "Happiness", as good as it was, didn't make a chart or sales impact.

Her 20th Century Millennium Edition collection corrected that mistake. It would've been perfect, but it doesn't have my favorite ballad from The Comfort Zone, "Just for Tonight."

music DAMN forgot how good this album is!!! Even though I was in the 4th grade when this came out, my mom played the album out and i've been hooked ever since!!!

This is the perfect album to get the makeup right and put on the sexiest outfit to be fashionably late to a party only to walk in like you are on the runway!!!

I love this album!!!

THE COMFORT ZONE is my favorite song EVER by Vanessa Williams. The lyrics were cool and poetic with slithering nice mid-tempo music.

I thought her FINAL major hit was "Oh How The Years Go By". I know it did well on the AC chart. It wasn't a pop hit, though. "Happiness" was the first single from that album, but didn't do well at all. That's when the label started pushing "Oh How The Years Go By".

I actually own the 20th set, not "First Ten Years" for that reason. I think it kind of sucks, though, since there is something that is a little more offical or genuine about the "First Ten Years while those "20th" sets are just record companies, with often little respect to the artists, blatantly cashing in. That's the reason those sets are often very reduceded in price and have a very limited tracklisting. There was something that used to be cool about when an artists released a hits set or even a collection of their songs. While I sometimes enjoy these discounted sets and even the recent "Ulitmate" or "Gold" sets with two CDs, its kind of a slap in the face. Does make music more accessible, but still.

I think those sets are ideal for artists like Vanessa, who have only had a handful of hits. When the artist has almost as many albums as hits and/or many of their hits were remixed for radio, those 20th sets are outstanding!

Yes, for artists like Mary Jane Girls and Klymaxx, they're great. lol I have those on the Millenium Collection series.
