Janet is leagues ahead of Michael.

Michael has lost a lot in the past decade so there's not even any question anymore. Janet for sure. Although she's becoming somewhat predictable too. psst...I used to love them both Top 5 when I was a kid. Don't tell.

Janet bores me to tears and I don't think she's ever done anything truly original in her career. Even The Velvet Rope was filled with samples and the good tracks were even rip-offs for lesser known Kylie Minogue tracks (compare 'The Velvet Rope' to 'Confide In Me' for example). Her incessant miming pisses me off too.

The thing about Janet is that she is not and never has been the BEST at anything. There's always in my eyes been someone not long before or around at the same time who has been able to do it just that tiny bit better.

Say what you want about Michael now, but in 50 years Janet will be a footnote at the end of his entry in the pop culture history books.

Unlike Janet,Mike at least works with different producers on each album while Janet just keeps making the same album over and over again.Nowadays,Janet's albums basically consist of a bunch of bass-heavy,sample-heavy,"you got a big dick and I wanna ride it"-type songs.She acts as if she just discovered sex!! There's nothing new or original about what she's doing and her sex kitten persona is played out.And obviously,Michael is a MUCH better singer than Janet.


I'm not saying that everything MJ does is totally unique or original,but I would take ANY of his albums over a Janet Jackson album anyday.

Janet cannot sing. Michael is a far more superior artist than Janet. Her songs are hollow and empty. I like Janet, but a pretty smile can only go so far. Maybe she should try singing children's songs, she got a really sweet little voice. And I'm not saying this to be funny...really.

If there was no Michael,there'd be NO janet she only got where is because of her family connections (that is being the lil sis of MJ) and despite what some ppl say about Mike these days, he was and still is the star and talent of that family enough said!!! The only thing janet is better at is her PR and even that looks shaky these days!

Alot of people forget this,but Michael was doing kickass songs since he was 9 years old.Pull out your copies of "The Jackson 5 Greatest Hits" and listen to songs like "I Want You Back","I'll Be There","The Love You Save" and "Who's Loving You".He was kicking ass while Janet was still in diapers!!

Another thing...Janet's voice is as thin as air! Say what you will about Michael,but the one thing you can't criticize is his voice.Unlike Janet,he CAN sing.This is really a silly debate because,in most of those critic's polls,Janet barely makes the lists.She has yet to create a monumental album like 'Thriller' (which has sold more than all of her albums combined),or a definitive song like "Billie Jean".Janet is cute,she has a nice smile and she can dance good.But she will NOT be remembered as an important artist of our time.

That's right David and I find it hilarious when ppl say MJ is just a "video" artist...hello he sold over 10 million albums with Off The Wall at a time when hardly he got on tv airplay in 1979-80...it was the biggest selling album for an r'n'b artist at the time. Like u have pointed out his tv appearances during the 70s and concert performances with the Jackson 5, they were off the chain and its a pity they don't show alot of it on tv these days cause it would remind EVERYONE what a great talent MJ was...I may not like what he has done to his face or the decisions he has made in his life etc and even though I'm a Prince fanatic,I also appreciate Mike's contribution to the funk movement which was invented by JB. Even though he is not in the same league as Prince, cause P is a singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, actor extrodinare (come one he was great in Purple Rain!)...IMO MJ is an excllent song and dance man in the same league as Sammy Davis Jr and Jackie Wilson and my main man JB and shouldn't be clowned!

The bottom line in this janet is good at what she does and she is a hell of alot better than Britney and her clones etc...but she will ALWAYS be in MJ's shadow.
