In a recent interview Mariah Carey reminded fans of her long standing disdain for Jennifer Lopez by smashing rumors that she had plans to record with the pregnant actress/singer chiding that it would "never happen."

"I'd rather be on stage with a pig! A duet with Jennifer Lopez and me just ain't going to happen," says Carey assuredly.

The pair first became at odds in 2001 when Lopez sampled two songs from the soundtrack to Carey's movie Glitter in two versions of her own hit track "I'm Real" for her album J.Lo.

Heard about it and didn't believe it until she said 'ain't going to happen'. I still have doubts as she rarely actually identifies a person by name if there's some drama.

Mariah Carey is fighting back against a new Internet report that suggests she is feuding with Jennifer Lopez.

The report, which has spread in the blogsphere Tuesday, includes a quote – supposedly from Carey – saying that she would rather appear on stage with a certain animal than ever share a stage with Lopez. The story, Carey tells PEOPLE. is "a complete untruth."

Carey insists that the quote did not, and would not, come from her.

"This is just some Internet gossip and it's pathetic that people actually entertain the thought that this could be real," Carey adds. "This is another sad example of two strong women being pit against each other."

Carey has a new album due out in the spring, shortly after Lopez is due to give birth

Mariah's enough of a veteran and survivor in the music industry to understand how to censor her public statements to not overtly offend any recording artist and their interests, as it's good ettiquette as well as good business for her.

I do remember back in the day when she was initially going through her divorce with Motola she would let the occasional flip comment about competition slip "on record" as she was between pr and artist rep and without "protection" as it were..But that was YEARS ago and she has long since learned how to give nuetral comments to the press about her musical peers (as well as occasional outright adulation to the peers she clearly likes)...

So Mariah had to go back to the studio and she reworked the song by using Cameo's "Candy" instead.

Ja Rule also outted Motola in a radio interview saying how he got a call from him asking him to remix I'm Real in the same style he did Mariah's "If We". So that's another track wasted on her album.

Why the hell would Mariah and JLo do a duet together anyway?

JLo can't sing worth a damn and Mariah has an amazing voice...that just doesn't make any sense.
