Actually by the time this interview was recorded Madonna had been living in the UK for well over 6 years and surrounding herself with Brits for longer even while filming "Evita"...
I think if you look back at old interviews with Madonna, she's never had a great American twang...she's always been 'a bit Joan Collins' 
I shared a space at Uni with two American exchange students for 6 months and we suddenly were adopting each others accents, sayings etc. I don't think it made us shallow or pathetic. Some people just flow with their surroundings. But it's Madonna, so I suppose it has to be the worst thing that any woman has ever done. You know what I mean- she's always sounded more 'European' than Bay City (which which she left years ago).
Like I said before, I've always lived in deepest Norfolk in the UK and we are supposed to have a real strong accent, but because I've moved counties and been to school etc. where there are other accents and 'twangs' then you do actually pick things up and I now sound completely 'posh' according to my family who still live where we all grew up- it wasn't on purpose that I sound different, it just happens sometimes. i do not remotely talk kiwi and ive been here 6 years now-all the old scottish guys,irish guys,cockneys etc have never lost their accent after 40 years it realy makes ones shit curl! BUT was was annoying if you look at the interview and then she immediatly gives an interview in america-shes talking fuckin american whenever that woman opens her mouth in the uk shes a laughing stock however i love borderline! | |
