Jay-Z set to launch a record label with Apple????? http://gizmodo.com/339781...with-apple
----- Rumor The Old Music Industry Is Dead: Apple Launching Record Label With Jay-Z Looks like there might another major announcement at MacWorld. BGR says they've "confirmed" that Apple is launching a record label with Jay-Z, who's set to step down from Def Jam. Jay-Z and Jobs are both brilliant businessmen, and the move would make sense on a number of levels: The labels almost view iTunes as a competitor now, the industry landscape is rapidly transforming, and whoever finds the magic formula for a new kind of label/distribution firm stands to make a lot of money as they establish the new paradigm of the industry. And iTunes already is something like a label. This could be megaton big, if the rumor is true. "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world." | |

As much as I hate Jay-Z, I'm sick of the sharks in the industry being in charge of everything. It is getting pretty annoying how much the labels get, and how little the artists get and how shitty some of the output is. MJ Fan 1992-Forever

Yeah people dont realize the more you consolidate the less "artists" you are going to get, this is the downfall of the music business, the fact that it merged with all these other medias, like Mtv,Viacom, clearchannel etc... The ones who dont give a shit are the suits, because as bad as they sales are, they are getting paid. And also didnt Jay Z just complain about iTunes and how it breaks up Cd's by selling each track, somewhat of a double standard isnt it.
