I'd love to but there's no link.

Did the mod remove it? I thought posting links to P covers were not a problem.

Here's the link for those that are interested:

My guess is that many haven't a clue who Billy Cobham is.
And really, this isn't the best intro to someone with his history.

Agreed
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

You could start with various Miles Davis tracks...

...from these recordings. (Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson, On The Corner)

Mahavishnu Orchestra...

...is where many became aware of him.

...A few early solo studio albums.

And many things in between and beyond.

A few examples of what the original Modern Power Drummer...

...is capable of.

lol Ok, I know I'm late lol

But all I can do is testify and nod about everything above. Regarded as Fusion's greatest and most influential drummer, Billy really ushered in the era of odd meter drumming. It's seen often now, but in 1970, it was truly some other shit, lol People called him "The Man with Four Hands"...and you heard everything...He combined the improvisantial virtuosity of Jazz, the power of Rock and brought the tight Funk at the same time.

Drummer Steve Smith (Journey, Vital Information, etc.)talked about his first time catching Billy live:

“The first time I saw Billy Cobham was in 1974,” says Steve Smith, “and it changed my life! I had heard Mahavishnu’s The Inner Mounting Flame, and I didn’t understand it at the time, since I had mainly been listening to big band music and rock. But in ’74, when I was going to Berklee in Boston, I saw Billy with his first band at the jazz club Paul’s Mall. He was playing super funky with a powerful approach I had never seen before. He’d play these huge fills around his clear Fibes kit, and sometimes he would be so into it that he would stand up when he played a fill. It was truly awesome. I went back to school the next day and tried to play like that, but I couldn’t even get close. The teacher running the ensemble yelled at me and told me to calm down.” lol
