Hmmm, we don't all agree.

My fave remains Oleta Adams' cover of it. That's one of the many reasons her "Evolution" album is worth buying, believe me.

Rap music killed the space in mainstream music for actual talent and Nas.

Now your boy Nasir is reduced to titling an album "N-gger" to create interest in his project because all his other sell out moves failed HARD.

Nothing killed Prince, he can pack arenas.

Nas is damn near ass naked and probably couldn't get people to fill his basement.

how could you possibly compare nas and prince as if their popularity is at all relevant to their impact on music?

WTF are you even talking about?

1. Nas is a hip hop turd who has had no impact on music because he doesn't make any, and because he's not an actual talent and is failing miserably at his bastardized music, he has to damn near suck a dick to stay alive.

2. I didn't speak at all about popularity, but rather the ability to continue to draw people in response to that fool's claim that Prince has been "killed." That ability requires real talent, presence, soul, and artistry.

3. Prince wipes his ass with dudes like Nas.

Only on the Org could innocuous praise for a Streisand cover of a Billy Joel song get to a war over Nas, Prince and the overall decline of music.

falloff

Goodness gracious. Happy New Year, Org.

Love Nas song. But I gotta go with Billy Joel (even though the only thing they have in common is the title!).

____

Nas is actually one of the very few hip hop artists who actually has talent that still gets some play on MTV (or whatever the station is that plays music videos).
He's made some catchy tracks but hasn't dumbed down his lyrics to attempt to be understood by the pop market (except maybe on that "i know i can" song but that was part of a concept).

Prince, Nas and Billy Joel all rip it. Peace!
