Paisley, I really think the powers that be, whoever they are, didn't want to release those hot 80s style jams. They were a little too removed from the image they have in mind for her. With the exception of the slow jam, I've hated these singles. I use to play all the other songs on the regular, especially to dance or work out to. If she was as involved in this album as she says, I feel like they said you can do those type of songs if you want to but you have to do some 50 Cent, Lil Jon joints too and then those are the only songs they'd release. neutral

I know cry Thank you man. I am glad Im not the only one who agrees. Make It Last Forever, Bang It Up, Get In Fit In, I Proceed, Crush???

Its a damn shame that record companies only let people release what they think should be put out sad . However Im still glad that record companies allow these kinda songs on the record in the first place.

I loved Promise and quite enjoyed Like a Boy, but I think this song is trash shrug

She is back in the studio now with Jazze Pha working on material for her next album, which is supposed to come out in 2008.

By the way, there are NO plans to have That's Right sent to radio. The only reason why this video was released is because it was shot the day before the Can't Leave 'Em Alone video was shot (this is way back in the summer, mind you), and so it was already in the can. They thought, "might as well release the damn thing", so they put it on her website on December 25th as a Christmas gift to the fans.

She should have realized that she did not have a solid enough foundation to come back with a track like Promise and expect it to cross over to Top 40. The song did extremely well at Rhythmic and Urban, but it effectively killed her Top 40 support, which held true for the rest of the album, too. I think Like A Boy briefly went Top 30 on that format, and Can't Leave 'Em Alone barely scraped the Top 40. That's horrible for an artist whose first album had so much support at Mainstream CHR/Pop. She needs to come back hard with a song that is going to work at pop radio.

I guess Monica didn't have anything else 2 do but make a cameo in this video either? I never cared for this song, but I thought C.R.U.S.H. would have been a big hit. They decided 2 go with "Can't Leave 'em Alone" because of 50 (who's career is pretty-much OVER).

Yeah, I am happy she was able to get those songs on the album as limiting as labels are these days.

I always hated that 50 Cent song so much that I've never even seen the video. Wasn't crazy about Like A Boy either. She really should have followed up Promise with a strong uptempo like C.R.U.S.H. or I Proceed. I listened to the first 15 seconds of That's Right and turned it off.

So she's already working on a new album? She's not wasting any time. I can't believe she was able to snag the Diana Ross tribute for the Kennedy Center. Guess Beyonce was booked or they wanted to give someone else a chance. wink

Well thats the deal with Labels, the MYA record got shelved mainly because the singles were bad but the label was pairing her with people Like Lil wayne, thats why you get bad singles. Just the fact that SONY couldnt get the Amerie record in america showed they have their head up there ass, meanwhile they release Beyonce re-issues in every language. The Amerie was clearly the best thing this year that AMERICA never got to hear, mainly because it was different, it was old school, it was not this mid-tempo bullshit rb pop with a rapper throw in.

I still don't have her album. Did I read somewhere that they were going to release it in the US in 08? Either way, I just have to put my special order in. At least she's not completely forgotten as I see Chingy threw her on a track.

Im not sure if Sony will release it here, but they have parted ways over their "differences", which is a blessing for Amerie, since she was doing fine without them just releasing the mix tapes.

Yeah its her best and in my top 10 for the year and in some others too. A shame it didnt make it here, but probably just as well, it easily had 4 singles that could have been "changes" in the RB field, but thats probably why it didnt get released.
