Top 10 Jazz records of 2007

Hi there,

if there are any jazz cats out there on the org, please tell me what records where your top picks in 2007.

Myself, I "discovered" Gonzalo Rubalcaba this year, excellent stuff. And I also liked the new Herbie Hancock CD River. Plus, some tracks off the new Nils Landgreen CD were just awesome.

Any recomendations highly welcome

Cheers

I listen to jazz... but I don't listen to stuff that was released in 2007 wink
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Ndeed!

This made my top albums of 2007 in the other thread! It is so Nice to hear Stanley back to writing and playing like this--IMO, it's been about 30 years since he's put out a studio album on this level, with this range....

Simmilarly, some of my other favorites in this area probably couldn't be categorized as strictly Jazz----- 'Fusion' is probably a closer description for some of them, though they don't fit neatly into any one category...
but anyway, these were some others that I really liked for this year:

Jean Paul Bourelly, Cut Motion
Pat Metheny and Brad Methldau - Quartet
Hadrien Feraud - Hadrien Feraud
Christian Scott - Anthem
Robert Glasper- Canvas
Alex Machacek, Matthew Garrison, Jeff Sipe - Improvision
Josh Roseman and Constellation - Live In Vienna
Dave Witham - Spinning The Circle
Herbie Hancock - River The Joni Letters
Chris Botti - Italia

THANKS - I will definety check out Robert Glasper and Josh Roseman. And que cool, that there is a new Stanley Clarke CD out - I did not know this, and what a fan I am of his music.

BTW, a recommendation: I got an old George Benson disc for xmas, "Bad Benson", this is really funky jazz.
