If you have CD's, you know you can rip them onto your ipod, right? I rip my CD's onto my Zune and the sound quality is so much better then the music that is downloaded. Check me out and add me on:

I'm just happy I got that thing working. I guess when you get new things, there's gonna be some kinks.

If you want higher quality sound from the MP3's you import off CD's, do this before you start ripping. In itunes go to: Preferences>Advanced>Importing Pick at least the 256kbps setting. The trade off is you fit less songs on your ipod. I think it's a worthwhile tradeoff. Some people don't.. Also if you're plugging the ipod into a stereo often, get the ipod dock as it taps into the proper ipod lineout in the pin connectors on the bottom of the ipod. The sound is soo much clearer and nicer than plugging into a stereo out the headphone jack. _ Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

Nah, I'm cool with the iPod. But thanks for the suggestion. My sister, brother-in-law and niece gave it to me for Xmas.

6 years ago, Apple rescued me from the horror of the Creative Nomad. Well, I just got a Creatiive Zen Nano Plus this year and it's great. I'm anti-corporate monopolies and big business, so I went with the underdog who, btw, included fm radio, built in mic, arm band, and regular ass batteries. I also have an option to rip music directly from the cd player to the mp3 player and I don't have to use any special software to drag and drop music. I think it's love.

Different strokes for different folks. I have absolutely no need for a radio (haven't listened to it voluntarily since I bought my first iPod), I love not having to replace batteries every few months, I love iTunes (although it is possible to circumvent it if I were so inclined), and I'd never bother with dragging and dropping music to my player. At the very least, you should thank Apple for transforming the entire market. Most of the improvements in Creative's players over the years have been taken from the iPod -- they even took the name this time. At least they're starting to get it.
