The Mary J. Blige & K-Ci Drama

There have been many stories over the years about the six-year love affair Mary J. Blige had with Jodeci frontman K-Ci Hailey. It was indeed a very public and tumultuous relationship and it drove Mary into a period of depression, alcoholism, and drug abuse. I found a few videos that showed Mary and K-Ci at the peaks and lows of their relationship:

I know right and this was one moment that inspired her to record her classic My Life album...

Thanks for posting that. I'd not seen it before. Most people know there was abuse in their relationship, but it's hard to see her talk about it. The guy who was interviewing her was a dipshit. "Would you consider yourselves the Ike & Tina of the '90's?" What a question!

Kind of nervy of the other interviewer to break it to Mary the way she did that K-Ci was playing her.

It's great that Mary has moved on, put that negative chapter behind her, has a good marriage/supportive parter, and is releasing some of her best material.

I agree! I'm happy that she has finally found a new love and is seeing brighter and better days in her life. This woman is phenomenal!

Mary was no punk, though.

She fought back. But there was this scary story about K-Ci following her to the street when they were done fighting and put a GUN on her head.

You could tell that she loved him though, she really did.

I'm so happy for her now, Kendu is treating her like a queen.

Exactly. Mary went through some bull with K-Ci. But I'm truly glad she's out of that craziness. I give props for Mary finally leaving when she did.

And I don't think her ripping into him on "Not Leavin'" was for play. K-Ci tried to play the role he always played and Mary wasn't having it!

" whistle Come with something better than that, please (I'm so sorry, baby!) I KNOW YOU SORRY! whistle "

I especially love it when she goes:
"See I'm tired of chasing your egomaniac, egotistical, chest-sticking-out, thinking you're God's gift to the world!" lol

Man, she REALLY let him have it there disbelief lol

He called her afterwards when he heard the "I Know You're Sorry" part and was talking all that "I'll whoop your ass" bullshit. And shouted back "Nigga, lay a finger on my weave and you're history" lol

She talked about that in her "Interview" magazine cover feature from 1999 with Angie Martinez.
